Inception DVD from Netflix has 15 minutes of unskippable previews...wtf is this?

Not just blurays but some dvds have it also, can't R1 or top menu, you have to FF past the promos. On top of that, each individual promo you have to do FF again, it doesn't go through them all in one sweep. On the other hand, my fingers and eyes have gotten quite accustomed to FF x120.

Best all around network media player is?

I have the popcorn hour c-200 for a while now and highly recommend it. Configuration is slightly more complex than the others but we're really talking about taking 20 minutes more to learn it instead of 10. The model c-200 is a bit pricey but there are cheaper models that do virtually the same...

difficult to say, it really all depends. what if you switch jobs to a crappier place and you're unmotivated to advance with or without a mentor? or what if you get a mentor you really hate? with that said, in general, if you were to get a good mentor in a good environment you will make better...

iPhone 3GS ot iPhone4?

iphone4, it's faster and better built than the 3gs as for the antenna issues, I have the same amount of dropped calls as I did with the 3gs (at&t sucks)

Does music help you focus more?

It depends. Sometimes it help me focus, other times it does not. Usually when I'm stuck on something and I need I break, I turn on music and it helps me focus on the issue more. Other times while I'm working, I turn on the music and end up listening to it instead of working.

How's the reliability on the PS3 Slim?

I've had the Slim since the day it came out, doing well so far. Been using it for both games and dvds/blue-rays so it gets lots of usage, roughly 2-3 hours every night.

Is a Q6600 quad core still considered "fast"

In most every day usage including some light gaming, yes, the Q6600 Quad is still considered "fast". It probably has another year to go before it's considered "slow".

What should I upgrade?

GPU first, then CPU if you got money left over. Don't bother with the ram, 4 gigs is plenty and you won't notice the difference if you get faster ones.

Going to Gigabit - What Should I Realistically Expect? (Now I Feel Stupid!)

I have cat6 cables all around with a gigabit router (dlink 655) wired throughout my house and get around 140 MB/s. I'm not sure if that's the norm or not but for streaming movies/etc. it's perfectly fine. I would like to be able large files faster but I don't do that too much.

Best Antivirus?

I've been using AVG (free edition) for years and haven't had much issue. The full scan does soak up cpu cycles but you can schedule it. For spyware, I've been using adaware.

Best Buy Charging $30 for Free PS3 Firmware Update

At the end of day, it's still a free market. Consumers need to stop paying for these ridiculous updates so that they (best buy) can't charge for them anymore. However, if consumers continue to pay, then hey, it's a great business model.

Nope, you're not a fool. The MBP is an amazing piece of hardware, though pricey. If that's what you want and it's within your budget, get it. Life is too short to skip out on things in which you know you want and can get.
