First thing that comes to mind is spyware or virus. Open task manager and see what processes are running and if any thing is using excessive cpu or memory.
I had a laptop that was having issues with the video card but I had no clue until th MS error report told me about the fix. So some times it pays to send an error report in.

I tend to use every thing until it won't work any more. But the best is to decide what your needs and usage is then upgrade from there. Only you can know what you will be doing with your machine.

There are many password reset programs out. If some one wants your info they can get it. Also just taking the hard drive out and slave to another pc and your info is gone.

Never will I use a refurbed HD. My sister had one installed in her old computer by the service tech. I lasted just long enough for the machines warrenty to expire. 45 days.
