Does installing two dimms of ddr2 in dual channel cut the amount of ram in half

If i run two sticks of 1gb ddr2 in dual channel mode on my board will they run at twice the bit rate but only effectively be 1gb in size. Is it like a raid config where using 2 hds to boost performance keeps the hd size at the size of one HD? Or does the mem run a little faster at 2gb capacity?

e4500 overheating

ya i hate the pin design, the old amd i had was a HUGE pain to get on but it was SO ON TIGHT when it was. Ill check tomorrow.

Got a e4500 c2duo, a p6n sli mobo, 8800gt and a mid tower case, i mention that as there isnt a ton of room in my case, just enough and i have 3 case fans 1 exit 2 enter tho the one in front cant take in much air, anyway. i keep getting 80 degrees on prime 95 and bad stuttering in COD4 and...

My new P6N- SLI wont post

did that, and reseated every cable, took it out of the case and still nothing. I just hope the new one will not have same probs, as I really have no money to spend on another one.

Now im sending back the P6N SLI, what are the chances the replacement will do the same thing? If this P6NGM works fine shouldnt another P6NSLI work ok?

System wont power down completely

The system will shut down, but the fans on the cpu and gfx card remain on, only turning off after i hold power button down 5 secs. I have an msi board, will check bios again but saw nothing really there.

MSI P6N-SLI no post no nothing

well its been almost a week, what I did was went out and bought a new stick of ram, new vcard, new mobo. All locally cause i will return them. The new vcard, a 8600gt also failed to post, the memory didnt effect it either. The new mobo, a P6ngm, im sure no one has heard of this one, works...

Now I have a new MSI p6N-SLI (pci-e 1.0a), BFG 8800gt (pci-e 2.0), Crucial Ballistix 1gb ddr2, e4500 c2d. It wont post, I dont have any video on the monitor, monitor doesnt even notice it turning on. Everything powers up every fan goes 100%, which to me is odd as my old pc's would start at...

Monitor backlight destroyed, or is it?

well its this pos one peice unit that since u mention it does have a free vga out, but i tried using the tv in the room with svideo but everything is so locked down here i cant change video input. so i dont know how to change monitors on this thing, it uses some safe OS shell over XP.
