I want to calibrate my Dell 2209WA, but I have no need to buy a calibration device. Can I just use someone elses sRGB settings and do I need to use an .icc profile as well? I am using both Mac OSX & Win XP. Cheers.

The Dell G2210 is purely an object of marketing hype I would say. What good is LED when you have a TN panel? I have a dell 2209wa next to my macbook LED-TN panel and I would take the dell any day for anything other than office work. Just buy the 2209wa, I did, the hype and reviews online...

Unfortunately the Dell 2408WFP can't display the sRGB 72% gamut perfectly (it is a wide gamut 102% NTSC monitor), and thus it is not recommended in the "PHOTO EDITING/WEB DESIGN (classic sRGB/web-target photo editing, or web design)" section at the start of the thread. If you're not that...

I think xt would recommend the HP2475w as it is H-IPS, and it comes above the dell in all areas (multimedia, print target media processing) etc. I would go for the HP2475w personally!

I couldn't really notice a difference, however, maybe because both of the panel versions I got were CPT. I've experimented with the magicbright setting on the 206bw, it makes quite an improvement. I'd still like calibrate the monitor using the available tools though. Xt, I believe it's the...

Ahh I wish I knew that about the 0.258 dot pitch.. I knew intuitively that a 17" was sharper than a 15" or 19", but I haven't had a lot of experience with 20" wide before my purchase. I can always try vista when I get my hands on it though. I've also noticed the improved rendering on my friends...

I went with L204WT.. However, it did not come with a DVI cable, so I exchanged it for a 206bw (which did, thankfully), which was now reduced to $399. The L204WT came with a CPT (chungwha) panel, and strangely enough, so does the 206bw. Except that it's denoted a 206BW 'W'. guess because...

Exactly, I'd have to open the box (noone will let me as yet), and I'd have to check the service menu... and even then there's no guarantee.. The LG ships with a DVI cable too, as I've found.. which makes the $50 less than the samsung 205bw a bargain. Related to this, someone on hardforums...

Ahh, thanks for the info. Also, according to Hardforums the 205bw has either a Samsung (LTM201M2) TN or Chunghwa Picture Tubes TN (CLAA200WB01). A lottery on every monitor I was looking at.. Boy it's not getting any easier :(
