big problem with GA-P35-DS3L

AFAIK NO motherboard manufacturer includes case mounting screws. The CASE Manufacturer should include screws for mounting into their case standoffs. I presume since it worked, it will probably be okay. Should not screw up your motherboard. Did you check your case mounting hardware packet? The...

Sorry, but which motherboard should I get....

Some folks here really push that Abit IP35-E mobo which I feel has one major defect. It does not allow for undervolting. And as OP wantied lower power consumption for cooler running, the Gigabyte DS3L allows undervolting while still overclocking mildly is a much better choice. I just built one...

What's up with the latest version 3.4? I downloaded the ISO image and burned a bootable CD. It finds fatal errors within 20sec on my system everytime at the same place. Never had a problem before. Tried 3.3 and no problems. I run OCCT, prime95, and Orthos just fine. So, I started searching...

Gigabyte P35-DQ6 Strange errors...

Gigabyte uses 1.8Vdimm for stock voltage. So, +.5 is 2.3Vdimm. A little hot! Everest or PC Wizard will give you voltages.

Gigabyte P35-DS3

I have the DS4Rev2.0. I LOVE this mobo. Best I have ever owned. The NB/SB heatpipes are fantastic. VERY cool running even 25% overclocked. Many many BIOS adjustments. UNDERVOLTS C2D cpu very well. This really contributes to cool running. Stable. Lots of USB rear and front.

Well, I cranked up Vc to VID as you suggested. I, of course, always have C1E and EIST enabled. Idle Vc did indeed drop to 1.1 at idle but temps were 5C higher according to CoreTemp. At full speed fully workloaded with OCCT, temps rose more than 7C. Both conditions caused my cpu fan to increase...

I have Q6600 with LiteOn 20X SATA DVD burner that Shrink 3.2 encodes most copyprotected movies in about 10-20mins. ALL FOUR CORES are usually running about 75-90% with just the encoding process running. The encoding speed is about 10,000-12,000kbs according to Shrink. I have found some movies...

Gigabyte owners. Q-Flash or @BIOS?

I have used Q-Flash with USB flashdrive several times. Perfect. I have also used @Bios many many times with the multiple Gigabyte mobos I have owned over the years. Perfect. Just don't overclock while doing it is a good safe rule to follow. Same goes for using Q-Flash. Now if only we could...

ABIT Undervolt?

Many many hours of OCCT and Orthos and Prime lead me to 1.225. I use stock 2.4ghz most of the time with C1E and EIST enabled. I also undervolt my Ballistix to 1.8V from stock 2.2V. My bios keeps fans almost inaudible. I like cool and QUIET at 2.4ghz. With 25C ambient I idle at 30-32C at 1.6ghz...

ABIT Undervolt?

I LOVE my new Gigabyte P35-DS4 Rev2.0. It allows easy overclocking my Q6600 to 3.0ghz while undervolting to 1.225Vc. VID is 1.2625Vc. And even more impressive is running at stock 2.4ghz while undervolting to 1.0Vc. VERY cool and quiet! My previous experience with ABIT mobo was very good...

P35 MB: Gigabyte P35-DS4 or ASUS P5K-E/WiFi?

Q6600 Replacement HSF Suggestions Please

I am using Ninja (Ver A) with 120mm Scythe on my quad Q6600 undervolted to 1.0Vc. With ambients around 27C, I am idling in mid 30s with nearly silent operation. Running 3.0ghz at 1.25Vc, I was in low 40s and mid 50s fully loaded, fans were audible but still pretty quiet. I like cool and quiet PC!

3.6ghz...Great OC! And I say keep it. You can "always" find something bigger, better, faster, cooler, cheaper, etc. Enjoy your new build. New chips are always coming out. But on the other hand...you could probably get $75-90 for that slightly used but extremely overclocked E4300 on ebay. Then...

GA-P35C-DS3R Temps way low

Let's see...8C = 46F. That is nearly as cold as my refrigerator. I don't think air cooled intel chips can be BELOW ambient. This time of year in my part of the world, 25C is more normal ambient, and my E6400 undervolted runs about 32C surfing the net. And 20C is around 68F...still pretty...

Updating BIOS through windows bios utility software

Works very reliably for me. Of course, shut down any overclocking before attempting. And download the bios file and unzip it before updating. I like bios updating thru windows.

What motherboards have the best boot times?

Okay, Peter is right. I was mistaken. I thought it was faster with less memory. Wrong. Now, Peter...how do we turn it "off"? I have never seen a memory on/off switch in bios. My DS3 just runs thru a check each boot letting me know that I am running dual channel. Thanks

Peter, I disagree. With only 512mb, the bios memory check function goes by quite quickly. There is a noticeable delay when I use 2gb of dual channel memory. I also have the minimum configuration selected with no par/ser ports. Thanks for your advice on the other issues.

What motherboards have the best boot times?

Let's see...my Gigabyte boots from COLD START press of ON BUTTON to Windows StartUp Sound is 38 sec. Fast boot, no splash screen are selected. From Mobo Beep it is only 33 sec. I think it is a pretty fast booting system for 2GB memory. YMMV

Biggest bang for my overclock buck RIGHT NOW, is the Gigabyte GA965P-DS3 Rev1.3 for under $100 shipped. Many places have it in that price range. The Egg comes to mind. 500mhz is easy with E6400. I'm using it's twin brother (Rev3.3) with E6400 at 25% overclock and 20% undervolting for very cool...

Why most of new MB comes without 1394 port

I just bought a Gigabyte 945P-S3 for $79 and $10 1394 card. I like the undervolting options of Gigabyte and some moderate OCing is possible. It's cleaner to have internal 1394 but at $100, tough to find. The very small 1394 card works well and includes a front panel header, too.

@bios update

I have a Gigabyte 945 mobo. I used @Bios to update mine from BIOS file I downloaded from Gigabyte. If you do not have a floppy (and who does nowadays), you can update from a USB flashdrive using the HP method and virtual floppy (Google search for procedures or search forums).

Built new system, but can't access BIOS (Abit AW9D MAX)

I had the same problem with my Logitech Wireless USB keyboard and mouse. I just reset bios and all was fine. When you enter bios be sure to change your keyboard and mouse settings to BIOS and not OS.
