Any suggestions on a 2560x1600 KVM?

I was going to do that, but either I have a bad unit or the U3011 is a pain in the butt to switch inputs on. If I happen to undock or shut down the laptop and then try and switch back to the desktop I constantly get the power saving message and have to spend forever hitting the menu button...

Building up a beefy server for a client

What is this used for btw... if it's at all important, wouldn't your client rather dish out an extra grand for reliability than to cut costs?

If you are using CentOS, why do you have to expand the array itself? Can't you just add another array later and expand the LV?

How much does managed SAN storage cost?

What kind of disk array are you adding storage to, what raid type, and what kind of disk are you using? Mid tier fc array could be $35-$40k per enclosure (depending on drive type may be closer to $25k) with costs going up if you are using raid 10 and FC drives versus raid 5 and 1TB SATA. If...

64 bit vista for htpc vs 32 bit

If you are going to use Vista media center x64 then you will have to have 64bit codecs for a lot of video playback... there is a ffdshow 64bit version, but ymmv on how well it works. I'm going to use 2GB ram and Vista 32bit for mine.

Is Q6600 stock fan good enough for light overclock or should I get a new one?

I think I might look at the Xigmatek or ACF7 once I get everything together. That Tuniq looks nices, but it's freakin huge. Anyways, thanks for the advice. One question thouhg, if I apply the stock HSF with the Intel thermal grease, do I need to clean this off more than just wiping it off...

Can anyone recommend non earbud short headphones for IPOD shuffle g2

The earbuds that come with the g2 shuffle have a short cord so when you clip the player to the bottom of your shirt you don't have 3 feet of cable hanging out the bottom. Unfortunately I can't find any replacement headphones with a short cord to use... has anyone else looked for and found...

Whats the fastest pcie card that doesn't require a pcie power connector?

I'm going to use a Dell Optiplex 745 for a while, and need a video card. I currently have a 7900GT, but it requires a pcie power connector which the PS on teh Dell does not have. I also don't have a spare adapter plug to convert to pcie connector since the Dell PS is made for only components...

Thermal paste comes with it, but I'd shell out the 5 bucks for arctic silver. If you get the retail CPU then you also get a 3 year AMD warranty. In this case I'd go OEM since you get more speed for less money, but if the difference is only 5 or 10 bucks for the same chip I'd go retail...

Latitude D600 CPU declocking

There should be a Dell utility called quickstep (or something like that) that works the same. Just set it for maximum performance and your screen won't dim and your processor will stay clocked as high as possible.

SN27P2 graphics card installation problem

Did you pull the bracket that you screw the screws into all the way up? I had to wiggle my 7900GT a little to get it in there, but it fit just fine once everything was lined up. This post was a week ago, hopefully you got it straightened out by now.

New generation of Graphics cards (G80 etc.) - when?

A suitable budget for latest and greatest hardware will be around $1500-$2000 for the forseeable future. You don't really need to start planning since nobody really knows what or when the DX10 cards will be out. If you do a search for G80 you will find a ton of posts, and they all say...

Check the driver version of your display devices in device manager and compare them to whats on ATI's site. You can also manually update them and point to the location ATI extracts all it's files. This will guarantee they are installed. This may be stupid, but did you have AV software...

Dell 2007wfp vs LG L204WT

I am posting on a 2007FPW/WFP (Dell has posted it both ways) A02 right now and I liek it. I came from an old PVA panel and the image quality on this is much better. This is not the greatest LCD on the market, but it does it's job, looks good, and I have less ghosting than on my old display...

Almost have build narrowed down... 470mhz XFX 7900GT versus 500mhz MSI w/HDCP?

Newegg has the XFX 7900GT of some sort with a 470mhz clock for $225 after rebate. MSI has a 500mhz version with faster clocked memory + HDCP support (I have a 2007WFP) for $239 AR. Unfortunately it's also ugly as hell, but who cares it's stuck inside an SN27P2. SHould I save $15 and go for...

It should fit just fine, i'm just concerned about the heat. There is a PCI slot next to (towards the inside of the case) the PCIe slot. Sudhian did a review of the SD37P2 (P chassis conroe box) and he even used it in his review so I'm going to assume it's ok, I'm just looking for second opinions.

Help: Stumped ... new conroe system problems

Make sure you pluggd in teh 12V CPU power connector.... that one got me a couple years ago when I accidentally mounted the mobo on top of the cable which made me forget to plug it in.

Upgrading to PCI-E Motherboard

I need a decent card and will be playing at 1680x1050. I'm probably going the 7600GT route just because of how cheap it is. If you're only playing at 1024x768 just get the 7600GT. It will be plenty fast for anything you play at that rez. You may even be able to turn on all the eye candy...
