congrats, my '04 has 67000 miles and it's the best bike I've owned in 10 years of riding.
They're easy bikes to work on, spend the time to learn how to do your own maintenance if you have any mechanical inclination.
read my mind, the R12500R is a great street bike. save a couple grand by not getting the GS if you don't want the extra suspension travel. Good engine and easy to work on.
I owned a 1998 GT, and yeah they sucked but the V6 was even worse.
Tires were 17" 245/45.
Only reason to buy an early 4.6 GT is if you plan on swapping in a cobra engine...but at this point you'd probably still be better off with a '95 5.0.
Those multistrada's are damn nice.
I tour on my 2004 R1150GS. Did about 6500 miles last summer on a trip cross country and back, going up to Newfoundland and Labrador this summer for another 5,000 mile trip or so.
If you're more into cruiser styled bikes, you should be able to find a...
I like it, RWD would be cool but it's not a deal breaker when buying a car as a sporty daily driver with a nice interior. Wife likes it and it's on the radar as a replacement for her 2005 mazda 3 with 140k miles on it.
unless you want the bike for yourself, I'd pass. They're fun bikes to ride around but the buyer's market for them has always been small and it keeps getting smaller every day.
it's the best money you can spend for quick HP if you have the DSG. I have a manual '12 and the only reason I haven't done it yet is because from most accounts the clutch won't last very long afterwards and I don't want to drop the money on a new clutch too just yet. Plan to just do both at...
You'll never outgrow the cbr250 if you don't want to. I've been riding for 10 years now, a ton of different bikes, and those 250cc are still hella fun to push through some tight twisties.
I've actually bought a set of 4 centric rotors from rockauto through amazon before. They were fine, no issue at all. Only reason I didn't install them was my girlfriend went for an oil change and they turned her existing rotors for her so I didn't need them anymore. Sold them on craigslist for...
Only had one problem with my 2012 GTI after 22,000 miles was it couldn't survive hitting a 2000 Jeep Cherokee at 45mph that turned left in front of me.
It was also the base model MT and no options. Adding more electronics to a VW is a no-no.
I'll need to go back and give it another spin, to be honest. I also had the fiancee with me who wants me to get something that is more family oriented than the 2 door GTI.
I couldn't really spin it up as she was sold on the relatively good fuel economy, looks and 4 doors. She doesn't need...
I test drove one a few weeks ago, kind of underwhelming and the interior felt cramped and kind of tacky. I couldn't really get on it with the sales guy in the car but it felt like the power band was a bit higher up in the RPM range than I would use for normal everyday driving.
For now, I'll...
There's a big difference between now when he's putting around a few miles and a little cautious as he new, and 4 months from now when his confidence exceeds his skill while out riding with his friends trying to keep up.
Either way, i wish the OP best of look in his quest to defy the odds.
I assume you already asked this on google and got the collective "no" from the internet, but as you're probably going to do it anways..
you can dog around on a gsx-r under 6000rpms pretty safely, get above that and you could easily get yourself in a lot of trouble before you know what happened.
nothing wrong with mesh, especially in the summer. As was stated before, Mesh is a one time ass saver. If you have comprehensive insurance on your bike it'll cover your gear too so if you go down and need to make a claim you can at least get reimbursed for the mesh pants as well.
I need to put my R1150GS up for sale soon...well I've been saying that for a month now and I still can't bring myself to post the ad on craigslist. I need cash so I figure I'll downgrade the bike to something cheap and utilitarian(klr here I come) that I won't feel bad about dropping out in the...
my '12 gti has it mounted on the top at the front of the engine. I haven't changed the oil yet because I get free service for the first 30k miles Don't know how messy of a change it will be yet.
i kind of like the volt, 40k is too much but 30k would've sold a lot more.
I probably would've bought one as a commuter, I drive 10 miles a day and very rarely more than 30 in a day so I'd hardly ever need to hit the gas station.
The deal breaker for me was is I live in the city and have...
pretty much what JCH13 said. If you can swing the money for a good clicker go for it as there will be some time where some weird angle will come up and you'll have trouble reading the beam. And when it comes to something like a torque wrench, buy quality(no harbor freight).
thought I was going to take the bike in to work this morning just to get some saddle time, but @5am it was about 25 degrees and everything was covered in frost. The heated seats in my GTI sounded much better than the heated grips on my bike.
Is it spring yet?
2004 BMW R1150GS. I think I have about 64,000 miles on it so far. I haven't ridden since December though, haven't had a day off to take a nice ride out west. Might head out to Kentucky this weekend though, girlfriend is out of town and I have the weekend off.
while the middle of the lane can be oily, there is something to say about controlling your lane and being visible while in motion. If I'm at freeway speeds I'll ride in the center or on the inner lane of my travel lane to make myself visible to keep people from merging into me.
If i'm...
yeah, i've noticed the difficulty increased somewhat when I got to Tat. My Shadow has been effortlessly wiping through everything up till I got there then I got rolled hard in my first quest there. struggling a bit right now, need to look at gear and stats I think or switch from Shadow to...
congrats, it's great bike and I've found most Ducati(and guzzi) mechanics really know their stuff as it's a real passion with those guys. More so than the wrench monkeys a lot of places hire that work on suzuki, kawasaki, etc...
that's not bad for the multistrada, they're good bikes and are plenty fun to put up big miles and hit the twisties.
I'd pass on the BMW. You can get a brand new Super Tenere or 800 tiger for about $12,000 if you wanted to go the adventure bike route which you already said is the upper limit of...
I have the older R1150GS, 60,000 miles and running strong. BMW's are funny, if you get one you can get 100,000 miles on them with nothing more than brakes, tires and fluids before you need to start replacing bearings and other wear items. Some though, have their final drives explode every...
I had a 07 speed triple for a few years, great bike. It was tall(aka top heavy) which was great for seeing through traffic and had more than enough power for street use. Really, really fun bike to ride. Never had any problems with it.
Only reason I sold it was because I've been bit by the...
I just wish you could set an option to show the actual score scrolling across the bottom to go with the fingering diagram, makes it a lot easier for me to work on my timing if I can see the notes and not try to judge if that is a series of triplets or or sixteenth notes coming up.
I've been playing it solid for a week. I've definitely gotten better at chord changes and building the muscle memory in find frets. For those 2 things alone, it's a great tool and game and if it helps keep you motivated to put in the hours of practice necessary to get comfortable with the...
Disc brakes or drum brakes? I fixed up a CL450 a couple years ago and the drum brakes always made me uneasy on the highway. Of course I've been riding nothing but street and have always had disc brakes so it was just different.
For putting around town and stuff, it's a good bike. check the...
subaru locks you out, can't even change songs on my ipod while the car is moving.
It's easy to bypass by tripping the emergency brake sensor on the unit, but I haven't gotten around to opening up the dash to make the hack though.
pure sql alone won't get you a job, you'll need to combine those skills with a middle tier product like Microstrategy, Hyperion, Business Objects etc. From there you can learn if you enjoy just writing queries and generating reports or move onto application development or database...
Yeah, I was brute forced...weak password. I guess over the past 2 years it could've been compromised and when I reactivated it alerted them. Blizzard unlocked my account and I now have an authenticator token.
First time I've dealt with Blizzard customer service before, and I'm pleasantly...
