how to keep nero from truncating my files

when i burn files (particulary mp3 as data) it will take something like 1 album artist song title.mp3 into 1_ALBUM_ARTIST.mp3 or something to that extent. is there a way to stop that? or a program that will make an iso or bin or something of what i want to burn? thanks, dirty.

need help with netsh command

i'm attempting to enable a local area connection from a batch file by using the netsh command and then change the wins settings. i got the wins set no problem on the enabled card, but i'm having trouble enabling the other card (we're moving networks) to set the wins. any idea what exact...

What to use to unlock AMD XPs?

personally, i found using whiteout kind of a pain in the butt. it kept coming out when i removed the tape. i used superglue to fill the trench (after cleaning with rubbing alcohol) and then used a defroster kit to paint the bridges. worked like a champ! running at 150 fsb at 1.73 ghz at...

My ECS K7S5A Rant

knock on wood, but i've had excellent luck with my ecs k7s5a. running a t-bird 1.4 in my secondary machine and loving it. using the onboard lan and both usb ports with no problem also. weird. main system is now running a kr7a-raid, which actually took me a lot longer to get setup. dirty.

bought the kr7a-raid at compgeeks for 53 bucks or so and an agoia xp1600 from newegg and i'm sitting very nicely with the 6 dollar fan on 1.6 or so ghz. after unlocking processor. will try bumping up a bit higher after a burn in period. thanks for the great deals!! dirty.

i've read little snippets here and there about how this is possible, but using the provided firmware releases and flashers from lite-on, i can't put anything but the 16x firmware on my burner. any suggestions on how to accomplish this? and it is advisable? dirty.:cool:

i guess what you're saying is that both computers can access the internet but can't see each other on the network? are both computers getting their ip's broadcast to them by the linksys? if so, you should be able to create a user account on your xp machine that is the same username and...

constantly losing internet connection in xp.

i've got two machines networked through a linksys router on my home lan. both machines are running xp, but only one (with the ks57a) keeps losing internet connection. so i've ruled out the router as the cause. now, when i was running m.e., i did not have this problem. so i'm a little stumped as...

ECS K7S5A - cmos battery problems?

i have not had any problems with the cmos battery on mine. i have had dead cmos batteries with lots of new motherboards though. not a bad idea to have some on hand. and if it's for a client and you're worried, why not? they're cheap enough. dirty.

is there a way to enable logoff scripts from an nt4 domain controller

i'd like to be able to have a windows 2000 client be able to delete specific files each time it logs off of the domain. i know nt4 doesn't have this capability....but is there a 3rd party app or something like that that could assist me? thanks, dirty.

sb live! 5.1 problems with windows m.e.

i bought one of those newegg 5.1 live! sound blasters (sb0100) and the supplied driver disk doesn't seem to work with windows m.e. it keeps asking for the location of ctface.sys after everything loads. even uninstalling and reinstalling drivers off of the website didn't seem to correct it...

hmmm...ok...great suggestions!! the voltages on the power supply seem to be running steady via the mother board monitoring software...i haven't metered it yet to be sure. (it's an antec case with an amd approved 300 watt ps). i should have mentioned that this was a straight reload. so i doubt...

i built a celeron system running win2k on an abit se6 board with 256 megs of ram and a voodoo 3 3000 video card. and the dedgum keeps rebooting itself whilst i'm doing stuff. i never get any virtual memory errors or really any errors at all...it just goes 'thump' and reboots itself. what are...

odd win2k problem....winsock? tcp??

i can ping via ip. but not by hostname. oddly enough, if i remove tcp/ip and reinstall it on one of the machines, everything works. until i reboot it! then it hoses up again. dirty.

i had bad luck with internet connection sharing. if the computers can see each other, there usually isn't a good reason it isn't working except that ics isn't working properly. i had really good luck with sygate's program. very simple to install and works like a champ. of course, it isn't...

How to use DSL without PPPoE/PPPoA ??

the linksys router has a configuration page built directly into it for connecting over ppoe. all he had to do is fill in the required information (username and password) and tell it to automatically log him in. there is also a keep alive option for folks he keep their pc's on 24/7. so...
