this whole situation sucks pretty bad. hopefully something is going to be done.
also as far as i know, if you go with evga and maybe dfi, you will likely get a Lotes socket.
well i tried a bunch of older drivers and at first i thought the issue went away but after a few minutes, the flickering came right back.
right now i'm stuck using the card without nvidia drivers loaded and just using whatever windows uses to get the display up.
i'm kinda sick of this...
from your picture it looks like there is contact being made with the socket. i dont think it's those little poked lookin nicks that you're lookin for but some indication that there is contact between the socket and the processor.
if u look at the pictures that raja put up of the processor...
well how bout that. i took the processor off and took a look and it LOOKS to me that contact points are all lined up and touching.
i heard that maybe foxconn had already fixed the issue in the newer boards. i hope that's true. in my case, i think i get a good socket or the thing's been...
btw, it's not like i said im no longer gonna own a computer now cuz i'm soooo upset.
quite the contrary. i'm not that upset. only upset to the point that i'd like to return and exchange my board for one that will have the correct amount of ground points being used. is that REALLY too much...
raja has tested how many of each board he's tested? in how many different configurations?
you sound waaay too confident about the lack of severity of this issue.
this issue was just brought to light and you're already writing it off and a non issue. wouldnt it be wise to wait and...
right.
the thing has been out for how long?
how much market share do you think it's taken? with such a small test sample, do you REALLY feel 100% that there will NEVER be any other issues related to this?
also, i'd be interested to know if ANYONE with a foxconn made 1156 socket has even contact wearing on their processor. if maybe this is just a bad batch or a complete design flaw on their part.
when i get home tonight, i'll be checkin mine out.
that's great and all.
let me ask you this. would you prefer to have a product made with a defect with a possibility of increased failure or one without that defect?
you can write all your mumbo jumbo about manufacturing and how companies cut corners, still doesnt change the fact that...
i have no problem getting the video card exchanged but i'm concerned if the motherboard or powersupply may have had to do with the card going bad.
i didnt see any of these problems until last night(computer was 2 days old at that point).
also when i tested things this morning, i unplugged...
hey guys so i just put together a new i7 860 system on tuesday and last night while watching a tv show on fox.com i noticed the screen to start flickering.
it seems to be that the screen flickers to black when there is hard drive activity. this is to the point where i pretty much cant use...
im jsut wondering on some details.
I have a costco card but it has been expired for a few months. Do they scan it or something? Or do they just look at it and let you buy?
And are these stations 24 hours? Or are they only open when Costco is open??
thanks guys
semi bad news...the case is not finished so the contest deadline has been extended to JUNE 8 and robert will throw in a free Enermax PSU.
:( oh well i guess we gotta keep waiting then.
frank
hey guys, just thought i'd let you know that the contest over at www.so-trickcomputers.com ends tonight at 6pm.
The prize is a Coldforge Case and 6 120mm Clear fans.
IF u feel the Urge, PLEASE bump this up for me, thanks!
BTW i do not work for them and for the love of me i hope i win.
Sorry...
actually there is barely any markup on software.
btw, the store around me, doesnt mark stuff up(city of industry, ca)
strange thing is that all of the stores are supposed to have the same price. When u look it up in their computers, everyone should have the same price.
i've set up both the SMC barricade(using at home) and DLINK routers(setup friends).
I would recommend the SMC to anyone that needed a router, this thing was easy to setup and the print server is great(since there is only one printer in the house).
cmon guys...i know u know about the ColdForge!!
www.faraday-cases.com
this is THE ultimate case!
for more info, contact stiltner from the hardOCP forums.
frank
shoot do none of you guys know about the ColdForge?!
My man Stiltner over at the HardOCP forums is gonna release his ColdForge for sale soon.
The ColdForge will be completely of ALUMINUM. He will also anodize the case to whatever color you want.
This thing is huge!! If size is ur thing...
im sorry to tell you guys... but this scanner is suck.
I had bought it a couple weeks back mainly because i like the size of the sucker. After using it for a while, i noticed that the scans came out pretty crappy, even at high DPI's.
My friend picked up one of the Epson 636Us from compusa and...
Personally i like the Epson over the Canon...if ur gonna spend 199 on the 1220U, get the 1200u or the 1240 from epson. These will be much faster, quieter and probably better quality. I just returned my new Canon 650U(the super thin 42bit 600x1200 one) for 2 Epson 636U scanners. haha yeah i...
just wanted to say that KRI computers is run by some good guys...some of the only guys that i met that talks to me like they really wanna help me, and not just make a buck.
i deal with these guys alot(i work 5 mins from them).
i'd definetely recommend them to anyone.
BTW, call em up and ask...
ahem...
shhhh...keep this quiet
the Epson 1200U is going on sale at CompUSA for 149 next week.
Not the greatest deal, but heck, its on sale.
haha
frank
PS: i didnt tell you guys anything.
