Just got a 360

Seconded. Viva Pinata is one of those seriously under-appreciated games. I also haven't seen anyone mention GRAW1 & 2 and Rainbow 6 Vegas. All are great shooters, especially if you're into the whole squad based aspect, and can be had for around $20 if you look in the right places.

HDTV for Wii and 360

I wouldn't say the Wii looks especially bad on an HDTV, especially on a 32" screen. You're sure to notice a difference between it and a 360 though. Just make sure to get the component cables, otherwise you're looking at 480i, which definitely will look ugly.

what console would you want

If I could only pick one, it would probably be the Xbox 360. It just caters to the type of game I like more than the other two, in general. I'm a fairly hardcore gamer. I play mostly western RPG's, FPS's, strategy, and action adventure games. Of those genres, the 360 is really the only place...

Bios not saving settings

So I bought Company of Heroes and Civ 4 several months ago...

Tough choice, both games are outstanding. Personally, I prefer Civ 4, but either way you can't go wrong.

laptop for an artist / gamer

I have to agree with alpha and thestu. Buying a laptop is a bit of a balancing act. As a rule of thumb: the three main considerations in a laptop are price, performance, and portability. Pick two of those that are important to you because there's no way you'll find a laptop with all of them.

Crysis System specs???

To me it seems like a waste to play Crysis on such a high end system with a DX-10 video card but not a DX-10 OS. If you're that serious of a gamer, sooner or later you're going to need Vista for DX-10 alone. You might as well get it now if you have the money, so that $400 video card of yours...

Linux Wi-Fi Drivers

I just installed Ubuntu for the first time on my laptop and I'm having trouble with my Wi-Fi card. The manufacturer's website doesn't seem to have Linux drivers. Does anyone know where I can find drivers for a Broadcom 802.11 Wi-Fi adapter?

What kind of resolution is your monitor? Is DX10 a priority for you? Will you be overclocking the CPU? If it were me, I'd get and 8800 GTS 320MB for about $260, put about $100 on a C2D compatible motherboard, and the rest on the best C2D you can find for that price and then OC it to whatever...

Wow, I totally forgot about Dragon Age. I'll definitely be getting that when it comes out. Has Deus Ex 3 actually been announced, or is that just wishful thinking? I'm also really looking forward to the Civ IV: Beyond the Sword expansion.

360, Ps3, or Wii Features...

On 360 the feature I use most often is the downloadable demos and trailers, nothing like free entertainment. I also have several XBLA games and I occasionally download movies from the video marketplace when I'm too lazy to drive to Blockbuster. And last but not least, I have the HD-DVD drive...

Vista 32bit vs 64bit

The full retail version of home premium is $240. The OEM version is $115. Even if I swap out my MoBo and have to buy a second copy, I come out $10 ahead by going with the OEM version.

The card is $409 at Newegg. At Bestbuy it's $338 after tax. You're still saving over $70.

Vista 32bit vs 64bit

While I only have 2gb of ram at the moment 4gb is definitely a possibility within the next year or so. I was also planning on getting the OEM version to save a bit of money.

Vista 32bit vs 64bit

I'm building a DX10 gaming system with an E6700. Is there any reason why I shouldn't go with the 64bit version of Vista? I seem to recall hearing something about the 32bit version being better for gaming, but I can't remember where I heard it or why.
