8th grader commits to Kentucky Wildcats

Average height in the US is like 5'10.5" now. 6'4" is nothing unusual, especially when you're looking at a sport that favors taller athletes like basketball. A 6'4" athlete with the athletic ability and technique more commonly found in 5'10" athletes however, is unusual and attracts the...

Need some help with my chemistry home work.

lol. serious? you probably could have done the worksheet in the amount of time it took you to scan it. Molarity = moles/liter with any two parts of the equation, you can find the third part. You then plug it back in to the equation with the new condition (Molarity = w/e) and find the...

some rich guy in India is building a $2 billion "home"

Hm. This says something about the distribution of wealth in the capitalist system, doesn't it? What is true value and who creates it? Is this guy really worth the fortune he has? Has he earned it? Does he deserve it? If anyone is interested, Bill Gates and his father have interesting...

    Question about traveling in bball

Traveling has come into pickup ball too. People expect to be able to emulate kobe/dwade/lebron and do the same things. You call traveling in a pickup game and get challenged to a fight. It's ridiculous, and for people to take the NBA seriously again they have to change this rule. I think it...

    Kobe Bryant: NBA 2007-2008 MVP

Kobe is a professional. Guy gets up at 4am on his off days to come to the local university and run. He's seen in the gym prior to 8 during the summer. All character issues aside, he's put in the work to get to where he's at. Definitely deserves his dues as a basketball player.

    Question about successfully telemarketing.

Some pieces of advice: don't say fuck, don't take shit. Scour your information for people who are most likely to buy what you're selling. To be successful, you have to say the right things to the right people. You don't want to spend all day convincing someone to like you and trust you, so find...

What would you have preferred to be born as: rich or smart?

Let's just assume capacity is infinite for all we know. Haven't studies shown only 10% of the human mind is utilized? MI gives an ad hoc view of intelligence. Their definition of intelligence (or smart in our case) is very similar to the general perception of "ability". Concerning IQ: if...

What would you have preferred to be born as: rich or smart?

Is there any evidence suggesting that capacity for knowledge is dictated by genetics? Granted some things will come easier to some people than others- I've always felt that if I was truly interesting in understanding something I eventually will. What sets the gradation for complexity of...

What would you have preferred to be born as: rich or smart?

I want to redefine smart: being more principled. There are lots of smart people who are rich and lots of smart people who aren't. They simply figure out exactly what it is they believe, and act according to their beliefs. You can be a smart father of 3 working a blue collar job. Or you can be...

once again kiddies, just comply with the officer and this will not be you

The officer was very patient. IMO, he should just be reprimanded for being overly hasty with the tazer. He will probably admit to his mistake, acknowledging that the suspect was neither running away nor posing a physical threat to anyone else. He should have simply said: "You are resisting...

Thug Life: doing it up as a 7yr old

I don't know if it's right to find humor in this tragedy. I think it's completely ridiculous and absurd, so I can't help but laugh. The grandma's financial future is completely ruined. Is she nearing retirement? How is she going to pay for all the damages? I would feel completely lost and...

Anybody here have Solar Energy for their Home?

Very hot right now. However this market will bubble and become overvalued. Until there is a technological breakthrough that allow for more efficient panels to be built at workable prices, what drives this market will be government regulation, not regular consumers. Suntech, one of the largest...

    Anyone watch Happy Feet?

It's odd how in a movie with talking, dancing, and singing penguins, you pick the issue of a fishing ban to be the most unrealistic and unexpected part. But yes, human intervention does feel like a sort of deus ex machina in a movie comprised mostly of humanified penguins.

    New to programming

Thanks for the helpful advice. The textbook's title is "Absolute Java" so I'm assuming the course is a java programming course. Course title is CSE 11. I've googled alot of helpful webpages, and I'll be sure to drop by Barnes to take a look at the books that have been mentioned.

    New to programming

    Graphical Errors help

Certain programs give me graphical distortions (like limewire). I also get artifacts in World of Warcraft, but Warcraft III, GTA vice city runs perfectly fine. I have a 7900gt that I plan on sending in for an RMA. Could these issues also have to deal with my cpu/mobo/memory?

O.o I'm 6'0 and 140. I've never had the motivation hit the gym more than 2 days in a row, within a 6 month period (lolz). The fact that I stay up till 3am playing games doesn't help. But put up an 8800gts as a prize and I will turn in to Arnold.

What do I look for when selecting a credit card?

I was thinking the student one. I get internships every now and then, so I don't have a steady source of income. I don't think I'd qualify for anything else.

    Robbing banks and inflation

Nope. The gold/silver standard was dropped early last century. You can, however, correlate the value of a country's currency to their GDP. You need that country's currency to do business with/within that country. edit: yep Legend's right. Bretton Woods is based on gold and was dumped 1971.

    Robbing banks and inflation

"lesser money" lolz. Banks are FDIC insured. Such a small % of money is in hard cash currency that you could remove it all without a huge effect. The way banks loan out money is according to a reserve-deposit ratio. This ratio is given to them by the Federal Reserve board (i think). So...
