D3300 or SL1?

1440p: 25 or 27 inch screen?

The biggest factor will probably be how far away you typically sit from your monitor. At arm's length away (about 30") I don't have any issues with 1440p on 27" with no scaling and it's highly unlikely I'd have any issues with 1440p on 25" either but of course YMMV.

Sorry had the wrong number its Q551LN at best buy. Last sale I saw for the Q501LA was for 440 with 6GB ram. Only seeing one for 535 at buydig.com now with 8gb ram but there's still some for sub 500 on ebay if you trust them.

Performance problems with the UX305 ?

There's two versions, one with 1920x1080 panel, other with 3200x1800 panel. Anandtech reviewed the 1920x1080 version, Ultrabookreview had the 3200x1800 version, which would explain the performance discrepancies. Which one did you end up with?

It's supported but it will still use up your minutes IIRC, but really the point of WiFi calling is to have a better signal available in this case.

Phone Data - How much do you use and what type of user are you?

Tmobile says about 5gb a month but I know it's more since they don't put the music freedom usage into their statistics. Probably closer to 8gb with that included.

Droid DNA on Metro PCS?

It'll work fine (3G only though), just note that despite using SIM cards, the experience of a friend of mine with MetroPCS is that you have to go into a store and have them do the swap since they still link IMEIs to the accounts or some other nonsense...

We are on the cusp of total smart phone commodification

Still sorta depends, a lot of people on grandfathered plans (especially those with family plans) are better off continuing with resigning under the same terms than jumping ship to an MVNO unless they don't plan on upgrading again at all.

How important is a stand for an Ipad air case?

I just put a back skin on mine to avoid scratching the aluminum and keep it flat on a table then look down at it, never felt the need for a stand.

When I submitted a trade in on an Alcatel one touch evolve it was 11 dollars, dunno if that's still the case. But I had it lying around during the blackberry trade promo where I had to take a phone for each one I turned in.

Torn between this and the Note 4. If it wasn't for that 200 dollar rebate it'd probably be a no brainer in favor of the Nexus on the price difference but now we're talking only 150 dollar difference in a worst case scenario under the assumption the pricing is exactly the same as the Nexus 5 32GB...

Where is the Apple iPhone 6 review due out?

What I don't get is why the 6+ bezels and home button are bigger than the regular 6, did they really need the extra internal space or something? Also goes to show that maybe they could've considered it the other way around with smaller bezels/home button instead to shrink it down a bit.

That's pretty sweet but being tied to a preorder makes it less of a no brainer than the iPhone promo in some ways. I don't know if I can commit to a preorder on anything these days, whether it's video games or phones.

I don't own any android tabs so I don't have an opinion on them. Not sure I would even say the Exynos is better than A7, thr Cyclone cores are amazing for what they are but I suppose time will tell whether 64 bit SOCs on the Android side will have as much performance gains from the ARMv8...

FWIW I've seen the base 16GB iPhone 5S for $100 with contract since June (and never went back up to $200) at major stores like Target and 5C for like $20 around the same time frame, and Swappa has the Note 3 and the 5S within $50 of each other, so I don't know if the value is quite like it used...
