I'm personally ok with this.
The average windows user is incapable of keeping up with updates on their own. All they need is an option to choose when to restart their computers to install the updates.
You will have an option to delay feature upgrades -...
I'm happy with my Z3.
I don't spend that much time actively using the device outside of checking email, etc. so it nearly lasts me a (work)week between charges. Last time was like 4 days and I'm not using stamina mode.
I can tell you from experience that under extremely high load, the 2012 rMBP does in fact consume more power than its power adapter provides.
The battery drains slowly when connected to a power source, but it does drain.
I picked one of these up earlier today.
Netflix looks fantastic and has 5.1 audio with Chromecast plugged into my receiver.
Sending google music to it works well, too.
Streaming a tab doesn't work as well, but once more video content sources support this (assuming that happens) it will be...
they're not giving you the option to choose, because they want developers to write apps for their new API.
If you could turn off metro, there would be no incentive for developers to make those apps and stop using win32. Most of these apps will work on Windows RT arm-based tablets as well as...
Save yourself some cash and buy a refurb from Apple -
http://store.apple.com/us/product/FC007LL/A
$849 comes with the same 1 yr warranty as a new one.. it just comes it a brown box instead of the white apple box.
I bought a refurb 27" LED cinema display a year and a half ago from Apple...
You don't have to use a keyboard at all.. unless you're typing something. It just works better than a mouse for some things.
I love the interface on a touch-enabled device.. but I don't have one aside from my ipad.
For a touch screen device, you swipe in from the side .. there isn't a good...
They keyboard combinations have always been quicker than mouse navigation if you know what they are.
It's easier to give someone the keyboard shortcut than to describe how to get there with a mouse. This is going to be a problem for MS for people who aren't using the OS on touch-enabled...
It's difficult when you don't know how to do something.
When you learn, it is no more difficult than any other version of windows.
Shutdown/Restart - Win + I - Click power - Shutdown or Restart - one extra step.. not a deal breaker, imo.
win + q = show all programs, activate search for...
What do you dislike about the marketplace?
Try AppFlow App Discovery in the marketplace.. it does a better job of helping you find apps than the marketplace layout itself.
The prime is currently the best android tablet available..
That will change in about a month. the TF700 will come out starting @ $600 and will have a 1920x1080 screen.
If you're buying a tablet now, I would not be able to recommend the prime over the ipad 3 and I have owned both devices...
I got my 900 from AT&T today.. and it is wonderful.
Being back on windows phone makes me remember why I loved it in the first place. I'm not going to get rid of my galaxy nexus, but it is no longer my primary phone.
I was afraid of the display at first. I was worried that it would look too...
yep.. I put a C300 in my 2011 macbook pro.. it really flies..
I took out the optical drive and put in an optibay hdd mount for the stock 750GB hdd and installed 8G of ram..
This is a very fast machine.. and I have plenty of storage.
yes.. a device that has already likely sold millions of units is a dud..
It was nice being able to walk in and get one.. I think the average consumer might be more interested in an ipad 2 for $100 less.. and have no idea what they are missing out on..
physically it looks exactly the same...
I think the metro UI is gorgeous.. I love it on windows phone. It is completely different than what apple is doing, but equally aesthetically pleasing and every bit as good, imo.
That said, the iPad is the king of tablets. The only reason I ever sold my ipad was either a) buying a better...
People who get this pre-installed on their brand-new touchscreen-equipped all-in-one computers are going to love it, IMO.
People who load this on their normal computers as an upgrade are going to have a steep learning curve.
I'm running it as main OS on my home computer and my workstation...
The primary issue is that samsung's auto-brightness is too aggressive to the detriment of display quality.
I turn it off and put the display at around 20% or slightly under and it looks much better.
Why didn't they sue Nvidia for their "Optimus" power technology that handles graphics card switching on the fly?

If you can pick up a galaxy nexus for a few hundred after selling your SGS II, it would most likely be worth it.
The SGS II has more powerful hardware already, though.. so it really depends on what you think is more important.. pure android and fast updates directly from google.. or having...
I think it is EXT4.. there are some custom kernels already that improve i/o performance, though.. I'm not entirely sure what they did to achieve that.. as I'm not a developer of any kind..
I love my galaxy nexus.. I've had it for about 2 weeks as of this past friday..
It's a great device.
The reason the original SGS ran so much better with custom roms was because samsung used a proprietary file system called RFS that was very slow..
The first major custom roms created EXT2 or EXT4 partitions to run from and that sped up the device considerably. The SGS II uses EXT4 from the...
Depends on whether or not you like samsung's UI "enhancements"
My first instinct when getting a new android phone is figuring out how to get all of the manufacturer and carrier crap off of it and get it as close to stock android as possible and then add the customizations that I want.
If I...
It's more about the idea of what the "Nexus" name meant for some members of the android community. It upsets them to know that "Nexus" doesn't mean "pure Google experience" anymore.
It's a bad precedent for Google to be setting if they intend to produce more "Nexus" devices.
Sure, right...
Apparently only O2 and Vodafone customers are affected.. and only when they have spotty 3G coverage.. issue seems to be on 900Mhz EDGE..
No carrier in the US uses that frequency.. so we wouldn't see it here.. would explain why it didn't pop up in the reviews from the US..
The man has at least 3 cell phones that he carries.. an iphone, an android and something else.. he's had android phones before.. he just likes cool stuff.. not really a big deal to him who makes it.
it was nice of google to give him one :)
I'm going to return mine, I think.
I can always re-purchase later.. but BN only has a 14 day return policy.. and the idea of getting my $270 is pretty tempting..
Seeing as amazon's video portion of the Kindle fire is just an app.. and it runs perfectly on the nook tablet, I'd say that's another of amazon's advantages down the tube with no hacking involved.
What I really want is an ice cream sandwich rom, though..
hopefully some devs will pick up...
When I imported my Galaxy S II, I bought it from expansys-usa.. it was shipped quickly and arrived quickly (paid for overnight.. I figured it was $700 for the phone.. why not pay $30-40 more to get it overnight)..
I may get the galaxy nexus.. I am a geek and am susceptible to hardware lust...
The DLC took me a good 11 hours or so.. based on the steam time counter.. obviously including my perfectionist re-loading if i mess up a section or get myself killed.
I'd say I've gotten my money's worth out of it.
I've always liked apple's laptops..
I'm a sucker for the aluminum unibody design.. this macbook pro will be the first one I keep for any significant length of time.
I like tinkering too much to give up having a PC desktop for gaming.. For most everything else I'm content with the mac...
