i7 920 vs i5 750 (same price)

If this is for gaming like another poster said go the CHEAPER route and put that $ into a nice video card. You will NOT notice any difference at all in your gaming with either CPU. The synthetic benchmarks show differences but NOTHING ever noticeable while gaming period.

Which build: i7-920 vs. i5-750?

Trying to decide on the setup which will last me the longest/best bang for my buck using WIndows 7. Current prices on newegg are being used below. No need for video card, other accessories, etc.: i7-920 --> $289 Gigabyte EX58 --> $174 (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16813128375)...

Well new Gigabyte MOBO runs like a charm and LUCKILY no need to reinstall windows. Just let Vista 64 update the drivers and runs just like before.

Yeah - just the normal quick beep at startup and no error beeps for the ram or no video card detected. CPU heats up fine and the paperclip test works on the PSU. Got a new MOBO coming tomorrow. Now I just have to hope I do not have to reinstall Vista 64 as I have heard some folks have not had...

PC boots to black screen

Tried clearing cmos 3 times and the pc does turn on along with all fans. When trying both video cards the fans on them do turn on also; just no picture at all on either monitor I tried. It actually does appear that it is not booting; I only get the beep just as it turns on but no beep or codes...

As of last night my pc was running fine. This morning I go to turn it on and it appears to boot up just fine. All the fans come on, beeps and it runs like it normally would. The issue is that my monitor light goes green for a few seconds; then I get the no signal message and the light turns...

Agreed - no idea where folks are saying this is NOT expensive, lol The $ for the glasses alone can go a LONG way towards one hell of a video card and then OH YEAH that's right you have to buy a monitor as well, lol It will be a LONG time before this is even close to mainstream.

Yeah I am with others on this - POSSIBLY a great concept and all; but no way I see it fitting in many people's budgets for a few years. Hell it's taken a good few years just for HDTV's to come down into a decent price range.

Does the HD4870 1GB have enough juice for a 30" LCD?

512 MB prob can't AA/AF on the 30" BUT the 1GB 4870 is MORE than enough trust me from a user. I play all the modern and latest releases at 4XAA/16XAF and not a hitch. If the 4870 is the cheaper alt it will EASILY handle what you need. But if one of the Nvidia cards is cheaper than that will...

Damn good read and I think this should be noted and VERY interesting. The INTERESTING caveat I get was that the last article was done on " 5 NVIDIA HAND-PICKED" games. He did use Crysis Warhead which aslooking at minimum FPS each card won a resolution and tied on the other. Now he uses...

Why are 4870 512MB cards cheaper than GTX 260 cards?

Far more appealing? LOL Cuda, PhysX, etc. has proved ZERO benefit at all in the mainstream games played. Take my 4870 1GB any day of the week.

You got that right, lol No matter what a benchmark says they find a way to say how AMD is not better, hehe Who the hell cares. ATI has a winner period with the 4800 series. SO much so it caused Nvidia to slash its prices in a HUGE way. Hell if it was me I would be pissed knowing Nvidia...

Nvidia stockpiles 55nm parts for a massive assult on ATI

Its interesting that NVidia fan boys tout how their cards are still better when benchmarks prove that ATI was the new king :) We shall see who is the new king after this release and MAYBE it goes back to Nvidia; BUT competition is the real winner here.

It is a shame though they have to use an overclocked 260 216 vs. STOCK 4870 1GB. Let me know when you see some reviews of STOCK vs. STOCK. I love how all the reviews have to use overclocked GTX vs. stock 4870's. MAYBE the stock does still come out on top of some games; but I'd like to see it...

When are the new Nvidia cards coming out?

Running Vista 64 bit and my 4870. NEVER had one single issue with a set of Catalyst drivers ever. Working fantastic. Hell never had any issues with either Nvidia either. Impossible to say one is better than the other - like the one article referenced "Just different"
