Q6600 vs E6850 (Short term [12 months])

I think is might behoove people sitting on the fence to wait until mid-end September to make a purchase. Crysis will be out then and we can see if if truly benefits from a quad core CPU, and whether or not the Q6600 or E6850 can really run it will with a 8800GTX or Ultra anyway. At this point...

Just Bought first X2

I think it will be playable. I'm running a 3700+ san diego at stock speed, 2GB DDR400, and a 7800GT at stock speed. Supreme commander runs very smooth with with moderate graphics. Worst case, you can buy a $200 7950GT or something similar to hold you over.

E6850 or Q6600?

The nvidia 680i chipset will support the new Intel 45nm Penryn cores with a bios flash, so don't hold out on the X38 chipset if you just want 2x PCIe slots and SLI. Of course, if you want DDR3, obviously this isn't an option. I'm trying to decide on this same topic myself. Personally I will...
