So i'm trying to decide which ram for my new system, I'm going to have a q6600 G0 (but i dont plan to over clock really, just like less heat and less power). maybe a GTS 8800 320meg and p5k ASUS mobo, and i want 4 gigs of ram for windows vista x64. I want 2 gig sticks becuase i want the option...

Is it worth upgrading to the new Intels?

ihn contrast, i'm still on an althon xp 3200+ (not even 64 bit!) with 1.5 gigs of pc2700 ram and a radeon 9800 pro! I'm definately assuming a quadcore q6600 with 4 gigs of pc6400 and maybe a 8800gts 320 meg.. I asume it will be a gigantic leap in performance for me :)

okay so you guys suggest that a vendor/retailer might purchase stock from a few places? not just one batch from one place.. Also yes i noticed that the batch number from the b3 was NEWER than the g0's yet the package date is older.. so we should assume 2 factors having close/similar batch...

Soooo... stupid observations... IT looks like that b3 was manufacturered/boxed on the 11th of july, while all 4 of those g0's where done on the 12th.. You guys think its safe to assume the 11th was the last day the b3's were made? or do you think intel produces BOTH models still? Also do...

Not to mention in my state at least, the sales tax rate is 9% rufly, which adds about 27 dollars onto the total.. :( probably better off just going on-online, if you live in WA at least. I'm at the point where if i can find a G0 for less then 300 shipped i'll purchase. haven't found that yet...

I'm pretty sure lost planet PC edition uses more than 2 cores, at least the q6600 spanks the e6850 when running the cave demo, i'd asume the only way a slower 4 core processor could beat a significantly faster clocked dual core processor is if the game is actually using all 4 cores, but my...

IS that to say that the 600w might work okay for me? i'm not wild about spending 109 bucks neccessarily but if its adaquette for what i want, i think it might be worth it. and max combined 50A is well above the recommended 32amp that mpil stated earlier in the thread.. so thats a good thing...

Is there any possiblity the q6600 (weather b3 or G0) can be overlocked with the default heatsink? how much for each model if so? If i got a G0 i'd probably just clock it up to 3.0ghz how much cooling would be required for that?

I feel the EXACT Same way as you. I've been agonizing over the q6600 and the new E6850... I am a gamer mostly, but lately i play just WoW alot and watch movies (sometimes while grinding in wow), so i would barely push the quad to its full limits.. Also if the new ones next year are cheap enough...
