1st overclock gone bad...HELP!

unplug all cable, inlcuding any USB cables if attached, take out the little battery (round button battery). leave it like that for another 3 minutes. Hoop up minimal of hardware to get started i.e. HD, keyboard, mouse, graphics.

I have a Phenom 710 BATCH 904 - cant get 4th core to show!

assuming your X3 might have a good working 4th core, is the same as assuming you are able to clock that particular cpu @ let's say 5GHz on air. unlucky draw seems the appropriate case here.

I am upgrading to a Q9650 from my e7200.

Q9650 stuck @ 44C

E6750

The E6750 has proven to me to be more than a worthy chip for gaming. I was able to push the chip @ 3.8GHz without a fuzz. I've been able to play any of today's games without any problems, and . . . it's as good as a free overclock @ 3.2Ghz @ 0.1V below stock volts! At least it was for me =D

Q9550 oc'd: I don't think I'm happy with Load Temps

if your current setup is giving you 67-69C with prime95, you defenitely do not want to do the intel burn test! Prime95 is between 5 and 10C less stressful than the linpack/intel burntest. You're better off getting the S1283 first before you are going to do the intel burn test!

I would stress test your system using both the Intel burn test and Prime95 (at least do prime 95 for 24 hours24 hours) just like Chris has mentioned (intel burn test really stresses your ram and cpu to the max, prime95 does not even come close and it will tell you if your system is stable or...

Just what Painman says, you're better off with the onboard soundcard instead of running your old SB Live! in Vista, that is, if you are going to run Vista. you will hardly notice any cpu usage with your onboard soundcard with the combination of a Phenom II anyways =) I've enjoyed the onboard...

OP, if you want your cpu to last a while.. I don't see the reason to OC it. Overclocking means you're giving the cpu more juice to achieve a higher speed. because you're juicing up your CPU, this in turn means the degradation of your cpu in a much faster rate. Those 70C temperature readings...
