Is there a definative answer as to whether the NB heatsink is in fact glued to the NB itself on the 965P-DS3? (Rev 3.3)
I'm using a Noctua NH-U12F HSF on my E6600 on this board and the clearance over the NB is very tight as can be seen here...
I bought a P5N-E SLI a while ago and I've never been particularly happy with it so I'm now looking to replace it.
My requirements are that it must have a 775 socket, be able to accept a Noctua NH-U12F HSF and support 4Gb in Vista x64.
I'm not up on current or recent motherboards so can...
By subtimings, you mean the bank of settings below the 4-4-4-12-t2 bit?
Mine are all set to auto, how can I tell what they're actually running at? I can tell that Trc is at 22 from CPU-Z but not any of the others.
That's pretty much the symptoms I'm getting.
Go into the BIOS, set QUICK BOOT to [DISABLED] under the boot settings and try that - Let the system go all the way through the slow memory count.
See if that makes a difference.
What startup problem do you have, Justageek, is it the same as mine, either a lockup or blue screen?
As far as I was aware, that particular BIOS option was just for hardware checks, making sure it has a graphics card installed, etc etc.
OK, I created a boot CD with the flash routine and the BIOS file on it and reflashed using the switches. I then reset the BIOS settings as they should be and will test it over the next couple of days, thanks :)
What were the startup problems you were having?
Ever since I got this board I've had problems of it not cold booting correctly. The OS would start to load and then either blue-screen or lock solid.
My solution was to turn off the quick boot to force a slow memory test, that seems to have...
My BIOS upgrade went well, but I'm still getting the problem of Vista locking up or blue screening on boot unless I let it go through the whole memory test when starting from cold :(
I've not memtested it but I've had orthos running in whatever-mode-it-is-that-thrashes-memory for well over 12 hours with no problems when I first put the system together.
It booted fine with the RAM set to 723 with 3Gb in but then I set it back to 800 and came and posted the thread here.
Hi,
This looks like the place to post so I'm going to ask for some advice.
I've got a P5N-E SLI which I've had for about 4 months. I bought it with a C2D 6600 CPU and 4Gb of OCZ High Performance memory (4 x 1Gb strips) labelled PC2 6400 1Gb Dual Ch Platinum Revision2 4-4-4-15 - See here...
