Building a new PC

Thanks a lot for your help! I did some research, and I think I'm going to go with the Intel Core 2 Duo E4500 instead of the E2160, though. The rest looks really good, provided I can RMA my video card.

BSOD :(

Yes, I haven't been BSOD'd in nearly a week. I also think I've identified the culprit. Steinberg Cubase SX rolls back my drivers when I install it. I just have to make sure to update them after installation. Thanks for all your help, veinal.

Thanks a lot for the trouble, dclive. The portcls.sys I was getting before made me think that I had a problem with my Sigmatel driver, but I don't think I actually got the proper update for it. Now I'm using the newest drivers, and hopefully this will work out.

BSOD :(

I use the power supply that came with my Dell Dimension 5100: 305 W 90 to 135 V and 180 to 265 V at 50/60 Hz I was also thinking this may be a power supply issue... I was going to test my voltages if I got bluescreened again.

BSOD :(

I continued to get this error repeatedly. I flashed my BIOS, checked my computer for loose components, did a memtest, did a hard drive diagnostic, checked the temps on my hard drive (around 48 degrees Celsius). Everytime I bluescreen I get the following two errors in Event Viewer: Error...

It wasn't the speakers. I'm getting blue screened again. I followed the advice from http://support.microsoft.com/kb/810093/en-us but I'm not sure if it will help. I've been looking up my stop error, but I'm not getting anywhere.

Well I disconnected my speakers (Altec Lansing from the early 90s) and uninstalled the drivers and I haven't been blue screened all day! Thanks for your help! :D

One of the major changes I made before getting the BSOD was purchasing an eSata 500 GB Cavalry Hard Drive. I mount and unmount it quite frequently; could this possibly lead to system instability and the blue screen?
