I'm seeing 18+ seconds on Asus boards. Why? We have some HP servers take less time. I'm to Windows loading screen in ~3 seconds on a Gigabyte Ivy Bridge motherboard.

mvbighead- I would go that route, but I've never looked into compatibility. In the "old" days you would miss features needed by the server OS using a desktop cpu and motherboard. Even with SuperMicro they have a compatibility list...

Swapping Monitor 60s with bookshelves? Am I crazy?

If you have to put the speakers under the TV then I'm assuming they are up against the wall to. You should look for speakers that are meant for on wall. For instance JBL has a decent set- http://www.amazon.com/JBL-L820-Wall-.../dp/B000FYZ9XO Otherwise the speakers will sound horrible...

I'm sure he is. Like I said earlier, you can't find a 2560x1440 ips monitor color calibrated under $1k. On another topic, I do wish they made a mac mini with the same specs as iMac. But the mini has always used the laptop cpu instead of desktop cpu which really hampers it for my type of work.

Joining a windows server domain on OS x 10.6

If you don't see it, then you probably aren't getting the correct DNS info form the domain controller. If this is a home server then your mac is probably getting dns from a router. If you hit command+K and enter in smb://dc01.domainname.xxx you still might be able to resolve it if you are on...

Are you going to pay $30-$40 for Carbon Copy Cloner?

I personally like clonezilla. Free and easy. The defaults work just fine. You can create an image or go disk to disk. It will also do a bootcamp partition at the same time, which no other program can do.

Two versions of Adobe CS on one machine - how can I set the old version as default?

Just to make sure, select cmd I for the file type you want to open in CS5. Scroll down and make sure padlock is locked. Under Open with: select Adobe Photoshop CS5. Then click on Change All.... You definitely need the padlock locked when you do it or it will go back. If you aren't using CS5.5...
