EVGA: "DX11 done right, Nsist on nVidia"

Of course Ati is going down percentage wise, they would need to sell some 25 times more DX11 cards than Nvidia to maintain their current 96% DX11 (steam) marketshare

NVIDIA GeForce GTX 480 Overclocking with Voltage Adjustment

Hey, i was just responding to the 5970 uses 2x 5870 chips, no it doesn't, yes it does, no it doesn't, etc conversation with a "no it doesn't" of my own :P This thread (or what it was in the beginning anyway) reminds me of the Pentium 4 in a way. It too needed a lot of Mhz over what it was...

NVIDIA GeForce GTX 480 Overclocking with Voltage Adjustment

But are we absolutely sure that the 5970 uses the exact same chips as the 5870 or is there binning involved? Just because the only difference between two chips is the clock speed doesn't mean that they're identical and that the lower clocked part can attain the same frequency as the higher...

    Architectural Direction of GPUs

Just a heads-up for all those CS5 related comments: only Premiere Pro CS5 will use CUDA. After Effects and Photoshop will still be using only OpenGL so there's no advantage to using a GeForce card there.

    Architectural Direction of GPUs

Only Premiere Pro uses CUDA, Photoshop is still using just OpenGL. Also, Adobe said that they wanted to implement OpenCL but it wasn't ready for prime time when they started working on CS5 so i wouldn't be surprised if they switched to OpenCL for CS6

Well, you could always sell it to somebody with color blindness, they probably won't mind :P

    GT240 DDR5 the best Quiet, sub-$100 card?

That's only for the video applications, Photoshop CS5 will most likely remain OpenGL only. They have to rewrite everything for Photoshop CS5 to be able to add 64bit support for macs so i doubt they'll have time to implement either OpenCL or CUDA this time around. Also, the only reason why they...

    Fermi delayed

Please don't say that, you're reminding me of Phenom which was also a "technological marvel" and "worth the wait"
  11. N

Fermi is 512 Shaders. ATI 5890 is 1500 Shaders pipelines.

you know, i think that intel is in really big trouble, they only have 4 cores on their processors compared to the 1600 on those ati cards

Mainstream Fermi in June, dual Fermi in April?

under normal circumstances, sure, i'd too say that dual fermi would beat 5970. The problem is that 300W barrier, will fermi have enough performance\watt to beat 5970 considering all that GPGPU stuff on it?

I am a non gamer, suggest me a good card.

wrong, Photoshop uses OpenGL so any recent desktop card will work (the requirements are OpenGL 2.0, Shader Model 3.0 and preferably a minimum of 256mb of vram)

    Farcry 2 results: GF100 Vs. GTX285

Never seen their schedule (and i doubt that anybody outside of nvidia saw it) but i don't think that's as simple as: send chip to TSMC, get back working chip from TSMC on A0 and release product. I thought that we were talking about Fermi and not GT200. Just because in the GT200 generation they...

    Farcry 2 results: GF100 Vs. GTX285

    1) We don't know why they're 6 months behind AMD (not necessarily behind schedule) 2) This is a different generation so it doesn't apply 3) Yields improve over time, if i'm not mistaken, GT200 had similar yield issues when it came out 4) Pure speculation 5) This hasn't stopped Nvidia in the...

    Farcry 2 results: GF100 Vs. GTX285

doubtful, that's not how nvidia works, they like to have the faster cards, even if they cost more (to buy). Nvidia knows exactly how fast the 5870 is so it'll be easy for them to make a part that'll be faster. I predict the GTX360 will beat the 5870, not by much but it'll be faster and it will...

ATI Ships 2 Millionth DirectX 11th GPU; Update: Jan 11/2010, Fermi out March 2010

Ati is currently in "pushing DX11" mode, these numbers aren't meant for us, they're meant for the game developers. Ati is telling them that there's a large number of DX11 cards out there already so they should start thinking about making DX11 games sooner rather than later. I don't see how...

Dual GPU Fermi on the way

Reading between all the spin, i find it interesting that he said that Fermi will be the fastest GPU on the market but he didn't say anything about the performance of the dual GPU version. It will be interesting to see if Nvidia will also release a 300w dual GPU card as it would settle all the...

Larrabee's future in doubt as Nvidia looks to pull their cross-license IP

It's a press release, they're made to look like they have teeth. The thing is, we don't know the extent on intel's and nvidia's IP licensing deal, i doubt that they're only about non-nehalem chipsets and x86 based gpu's. only? i doubt any business would say a 10% revenue drop is a small thing...

ATI Havok GPU physics apparently not as dead as we thought

it's not cuda that's powerful, it's the gpu's, the thing is, if cuda and opencl can both make an application run twice as fast, why would the developers use cuda?(yes, i'm speculating here that nvidia will want opencl to run as fast as possible on it's cards)
  40. N

ATI Havok GPU physics apparently not as dead as we thought

well, i don't know how they're implemented but logically(which doesn't always apply with stuff like this) wouldn't OpenCL run faster on nvidia cards if it were natively supported and not run through a layer of cuda? So lets say there's no penalty for doing this(obviously nvidia knows better)...
