Ryzen: Strictly technical

As you know, my 1700 couldn't (well, not consistently) hit 3200 on my gskill 3200c14 memory so I decided to buy another and swap it out last night. Result? 3200c14 ram first time every time. Nothing has changed but the CPU. Obviously not conclusive by any means, but food for thought.

Well, good news. Of sorts. Setting VTT_DDR didn't have any effect BUT raising the DDR startup voltage from 1.37 to 1.43 (!) did. It now reboots 3 times and starts up in 3200C14. I'm assuming each F9 reboot it trains with slightly looser subtimings every time? However, the good news we can...

For us unfortunate ones that cannot hit 3200 even with the fabled G.Skill 3200c14 B-Die, do you think this will be permanent? I've tried both the straight multiplier to run the RAM at 3200 with 100 blck, and with raising the blck, but every time I end up in an "F9" POST loop which eventually...

Saying that, there's a user on Overclock.net you says his chip as a "hole" from 3200 to about 3350 I think it was; he can't post at 3200 but can at 3400. Just have to wait and see what the new AGESA enabled BIOSs bring I guess. (off topic, but how the heck do I remove/change that signature...

I can't get my 1700 to even boot with 3200 RAM speed set. I just get the 5 "F9" power cycles then it reboots with 2133 default settings. I've got the G.Skill 3200C14 everyone else seems to have and I too think it's a CPU limitation; you're overclocking the fabric so that's probably as much...

I'm extremely happy to report that the USB isolator completely fixed it! I can now play musics AND GAMES through my little dot, woo hoo! Thanks again for everyone, yes even those insisting it was EMI lol (jk, I thought it was at first, too)

Yeah, it happens through xonar analogue out, on board analogue out and soundblaster usb. The interior of my case is painted, I'm wondering if that's isolating the ground to the motherboard? I've not had opportunity to delve deeper as it'd pretty much be a system rebuild.

Sorry about that, I've read my messages back and I do sound like a bit of d1ck, wasn't my intention. I am 100% sure this is ground loop issue tho as it comes through USB ground as well as audio. You can also hear the noise when the amp is on 0. The noises are amplified with the sound but...

I thought the very same thing at first but the audio is crystal clear until I introduce another earth point. If it was just interference I just can't see why it doesn't contaminate that too? I've not ruled out actual interference but the evidence does seem to suggest it might not be. Also...

Cheers, but I don't think it's this for a few reasons. My psu is a fairly well respected evga g2 plus emi interference wouldn't create a ground loop, it'd introduce noise to the actual audio signal. My audio itself is clean as a bell, even through the on board sound card when I plug...

What voltage are you running your CPU at?

1.21v for 4690k at 4.6ghz. Tried 4.8 at 1.33 but no go, didn't really want to go higher.

Hiya, I've got my memory locked at 667 (well, I actually request 675 and it comes to 667 using the nearest divider) in the BIOS; the P5N-E allows seperate FSB and memory speeds.

Hi, thanks for all the replies. All my voltages are set to auto apart from vcore which is 1.32v as mention above. I did try upping the obvious NB voltage to 1.5, but that didn't help, and I didn't really think upping the memory voltage would do much since I'm not overclocking the memory...
