    Ryzen: Strictly technical

As you know, my 1700 couldn't (well, not consistently) hit 3200 on my gskill 3200c14 memory so I decided to buy another and swap it out last night. Result? 3200c14 ram first time every time. Nothing has changed but the CPU. Obviously not conclusive by any means, but food for thought.

    Ryzen: Strictly technical

Well, good news. Of sorts. Setting VTT_DDR didn't have any effect BUT raising the DDR startup voltage from 1.37 to 1.43 (!) did. It now reboots 3 times and starts up in 3200C14. I'm assuming each F9 reboot it trains with slightly looser subtimings every time? However, the good news we can...

    Ryzen: Strictly technical

Worth a go, I had assumed auto would set this anyway, as it's 1/2 of 1.35v as per spec. Thanks

    Ryzen: Strictly technical

True, but I've already tried up to 1.2v with the same result. I didn't really want to go any higher.

    Ryzen: Strictly technical

For us unfortunate ones that cannot hit 3200 even with the fabled G.Skill 3200c14 B-Die, do you think this will be permanent? I've tried both the straight multiplier to run the RAM at 3200 with 100 blck, and with raising the blck, but every time I end up in an "F9" POST loop which eventually...

    Ryzen: Strictly technical

Saying that, there's a user on Overclock.net you says his chip as a "hole" from 3200 to about 3350 I think it was; he can't post at 3200 but can at 3400. Just have to wait and see what the new AGESA enabled BIOSs bring I guess. (off topic, but how the heck do I remove/change that signature...

    Ryzen: Strictly technical

I can't get my 1700 to even boot with 3200 RAM speed set. I just get the 5 "F9" power cycles then it reboots with 2133 default settings. I've got the G.Skill 3200C14 everyone else seems to have and I too think it's a CPU limitation; you're overclocking the fabric so that's probably as much...

    Tri-X Fury causing ground loop?

I'm extremely happy to report that the USB isolator completely fixed it! I can now play musics AND GAMES through my little dot, woo hoo! Thanks again for everyone, yes even those insisting it was EMI lol (jk, I thought it was at first, too)

    Tri-X Fury causing ground loop?

Thanks for this, and thank you everyone for your suggestions and for being patient with me; I do know I've been quite stubborn on this one. I've come to a conclusion tho, I don't think I'm going to be able to do a system wide fix, I'm not competent or indeed confident enough with electronics...

    Tri-X Fury causing ground loop?

I'm fairly confident your hypothesis is correct as you've just described a ground loop, which is what I've been saying all along :) I don't really want to use the E11K for the desktop, I'm just using it to test; I've got a Little Dot tube amp that I want to use for the desktop, but that's...

    Tri-X Fury causing ground loop?

I do get your logic, but the question remains how come I can only hear the EMI when I use a grounded device? The E11k has no interference when it's running from battery, only whilst charging from a internal USB port. Ninja Edit: And I can't hear it through headphones directly into the...

    Tri-X Fury causing ground loop?

I've just thought, this wouldn't work, would it? USB still has a ground connector pin. D'oh. I don't have any spare RCA cables I can butcher :(

    Tri-X Fury causing ground loop?

Yeah, it's a shame this x-fi HD needs a PC to run. Doesn't do anything at all when plugged into a wall charger :(

    Tri-X Fury causing ground loop?

Not audio, no, but I see where you're going with this. I must have an old usb cable somewhere, I can try it on the E11K with the shield removed.

    Tri-X Fury causing ground loop?

Tried both. Tried the USB sound blaster in both too.

    Tri-X Fury causing ground loop?

Sorry :( I'm not doing it on purpose, I promise. I've been around for a long time, I'm a good guy, honest!

    Tri-X Fury causing ground loop?

Yeah, it happens through xonar analogue out, on board analogue out and soundblaster usb. The interior of my case is painted, I'm wondering if that's isolating the ground to the motherboard? I've not had opportunity to delve deeper as it'd pretty much be a system rebuild.

    Tri-X Fury causing ground loop?

Confirmed, there's no interference with the E11k plugged into a mains powered USB charger.
  19. S

    Tri-X Fury causing ground loop?

That produces zero interference, it literally only happens if I plug it into the PC. EDIT: Actually, that was just from memory, lemme check shortly to confirm.

    Tri-X Fury causing ground loop?

With battery cable unplugged there's no interference at all, that's what I'm using now. As soon as you plug the USB into the PC the interference appears on the E11K, so I can only assume it's coming through USB ground. Headphones straight into any of Xonar, X-Fi HD and on board all...

    Tri-X Fury causing ground loop?

Sorry about that, I've read my messages back and I do sound like a bit of d1ck, wasn't my intention. I am 100% sure this is ground loop issue tho as it comes through USB ground as well as audio. You can also hear the noise when the amp is on 0. The noises are amplified with the sound but...

    Tri-X Fury causing ground loop?

Interesting, I'll certainly look into that suggestion. How would I test the latency? Thanks.

    Tri-X Fury causing ground loop?

I thought the very same thing at first but the audio is crystal clear until I introduce another earth point. If it was just interference I just can't see why it doesn't contaminate that too? I've not ruled out actual interference but the evidence does seem to suggest it might not be. Also...

    Tri-X Fury causing ground loop?

It's fine stability wise, it's literally just the audio it affects.
  25. S

    Tri-X Fury causing ground loop?

Cheers, but I don't think it's this for a few reasons. My psu is a fairly well respected evga g2 plus emi interference wouldn't create a ground loop, it'd introduce noise to the actual audio signal. My audio itself is clean as a bell, even through the on board sound card when I plug...

    Tri-X Fury causing ground loop?

I fear I’ve got a ground loop issue which seems to be caused by GPU activity. I was originally using the line out of my Xonar DX into a Fiio E11k and didn’t really notice any issues but wanted an upgraded desktop amp, so decided to get a Little Dot I+ tube amp. However since doing this I get...

What voltage are you running your CPU at?

1.21v for 4690k at 4.6ghz. Tried 4.8 at 1.33 but no go, didn't really want to go higher.

    FSB Hole?

Hi, sorry for late reply on this. My voltages are 1.325 for vcore (tried all the way up to 1.5; no dice), 2.1 for vdimm and 1.5 for NB, I don't have any other options (well, apart from vcore offset which is disabled). Problem still there tho, won't go 1Mhz past 1600 FSB (it POSTS fine...

    FSB Hole?

Hiya, I've got my memory locked at 667 (well, I actually request 675 and it comes to 667 using the nearest divider) in the BIOS; the P5N-E allows seperate FSB and memory speeds.

    FSB Hole?

Hi, thanks for all the replies. All my voltages are set to auto apart from vcore which is 1.32v as mention above. I did try upping the obvious NB voltage to 1.5, but that didn't help, and I didn't really think upping the memory voltage would do much since I'm not overclocking the memory...

    FSB Hole?

Hi all, I've currently got my 6420 overclocked to 3.2Ghz (1600FSB) with a vcore of 1.32v (droops to 1.29v under load) on my P5N-E, but no matter what vcore I use I can't get it to boot into windows at 3.4Ghz (1700 FSB). I've tried memory at 2T (currently running @ 667 4-4-4-12-1T) but...
