Formatting Help

I booted from the 98 CD and then used the format and fdisk commands that are in the win98 folder on the disk. Is there any difference between using the utilities on the cd and booting from a win98 diskette?

Why so much free RAM?

I have 1024MB of RAM and almost always have 600 or so MB free. The only time I see more usage is with Photoshop or Nuendo (recording). Is there any way to cache more stuff in RAM so my system feels faster?

Ok, cool I got it fixed. The IP for my "Local Area Connection" seemed static so I entered the info into TCP/IP and bang! boots about 30 seconds faster now. Thanks for the help!

I think the DHCP thing sounds right. I remember someone mentioning that to me a while back. Is there a way for me to specify the DHCP? I believe the ISP supplied them to me with my username etc. Would I have to specify DHCP for the PPOE connection or the Local Area Connection? Thanks! Bob

9600XT crashing my system? need help

The only thing that jumps to mind off the bat is perhaps a power issue. The Trident would (I think) consume a lot less power than the 9600. If your PSU is nearing it's capacity or is close to failing, maybe that would cause the error... Bob.

His bios is set to auto detect the drive. As far as he's told me, it is seen as the correct size upon bootup. I'll pass along the FDisk fix to him and see how that goes. Any ideas why windoze can't make the drive work unless he sets it to removeable? Thanks
