Is this a good Heatsink/Fan?

Ya, but any rational person would realize that "the high way" isn't really an option. I don't have any scholorships, and it would simply be imposible for me to make any kind of decent grades at Ga Tech and still work a job enough to pay for my education. I am financially dependent on my parents...

Well, the reason I am at home is because all the dorms are full and I couldn't get housing this semester. I was told I should be able to get it in the spring though... so not too much longer. Sneaking in the guy to install the phone line or cable isn't really going to work. It would be funny...

Well, I don't have the money to invest in my own server outside the firewall. Furthermore I am positive I won't get caught using other methods, because I am not dealing with an advanced system or administrator here. It is just a Netgear RT314, so this isn't rocket science, I just don't know...

Ya, but what I find hard to believe is that ANYTHING could overheat in there when the motherboard temperature is 60 degrees F. My temperature reader for my CPU isn't working :/ So I'm not sure how hot it is getting, but I can put my hand on it and just feel and tell that it isn't much above 100...

I am curious... what is the symptoms of not having an adequate power supply? I recently got a new case and motherbaord, and have assumed the problems I have been having is caused by the motherboard. But it just now occured to me that it could be the power supply since it is a really cheap case...

Well I just did a clean install of win2k and HL is working now. I still have the mementary freezing, but I can live with that. What puzzles me though is that even though I got the latest liveware and drivers from Creative, the driver is dated 5/5/2000. Their NEWEST driver is over a year old...

Ya, OK I just tried disabling it. It took forever and my system kept crashing during setup, I finally had to reinstall win2k and all my programs. Now I have it all working again and the problem is still not solved. It most likely is a VIA problem I guess, but I can't find a patch for the 686A...

Help me solve my Via + SB Live! + Win2k sound problem.

Well I don't have the KT133. I have the KX133. And OMFG I just listened to the music on my computer (I haven't listened to it much, and not on my headphones) and I notice the crackling too now. DOH. kgsfjgkldsgj So I just have an extra cool little freezing problem to boot.

Mindris, that is the only reason I am trying to change it. I am having trouble with my sound blaster card, and I think it could be related to it sharing the same IRQ with all that other stuff.

Help me solve my Via + SB Live! + Win2k sound problem.

I've looked at those fixes and I could only find one, for the 686B southbridge set. It will only let you install it on 686B southbridge motherboards. I think Via is a dead end fpr 686A users.

Easy CD Creator - no good upgrade path

Windows 2000 == Huge performance hit?

Well WHADDAYAKNOW... It fixed it :) So for now on, when ever you have a n00b coming in here complaining they can't get DMA support to work on VIA hardware in win2000, just tell them to go dl the latest version of the VIA 4in1 drivers from the VIA hardware site, NOT their motherboard...
