I wouldn't worry too much about that. I tried it and it made my Soyo look terribly washed out. Pretty much unusable. What works for one monitor is usually not what will work for another. Here is a good site for tweaking your brightness and contrast: http://www.lagom.nl/lcd-test/#contrast

Is it Bad to Crank Up the Contrast for an LCD Monitor?

I keep trying various settings on my new LCD monitor and I think it looks best with contrast cranked way up, because this makes the black portions of the picture look darker by comparison ... I guess I want to know if doing so might somehow shorten the life of my LCD or hurt it in some way...

I have never used Vista, so I for one can form no first-hand opinion of it. However, that being said, I have read several articles from hardware sites I trust, in which they compared the two os for gaming. XP offered consistently better frame rates across the board, all else being equal...

Are you talking about the shortcut to My Documents? I went to the actual folder, under my c: drive to confirm that the folders were all empty. In terms of backups, if I had backups, don't you think I would have tried reinstalling them by now?

Used TreeSize and it tells me that My Documents folder is empty. I ran chkdsk and it found no errors. I've run several anti viri programs and they've found nothing. Again I must appeal to the anandtech community for help! Even if I never get my files back, I still want to figure out what...

How to Get Into Soyo DYLM24D6 Service Menu?

Just got this monitor and I'm very impressed. But default color is way too saturated and there isn't any option in the user menu to turn it down (just brightness, contrast and RGB). I'm hoping there is a saturation or color option in the service menu--assuming I can ever get into the service...
