The Call of Duty games, which have options for enabling dual-card support, (CoD2, CoD4) both do fairly well at SLI. I noticed about a 25% improvement in my fps when running SLI in CoD2.
Well it's my birthday today and what gift does my monitor bestow upon me? A row of stuck red pixels near the bottom.
I have one of the P-MVA 24" Soyo monitors and after I bought it my dad went out and bought one as well. After only two months his got a stuck row of red pixels near the top...
I upgraded from two 6600GTs to my 8800GT. I won't be upgrading for awhile.
Besides, with the majority of PC games being console ports you'll have to wait for the next console generation before most games push graphics beyond what a 8800GT can handle.
Hey, I was wondering if anyone knew how the P-6831 FX compared to the P-172S FX Gateway has on their site now? As far as I can tell, it's essentially the same but with a smaller HDD and faster CPU.
Thanks all. I certainly thought that the better video card was the way to go. But does anyone know how much of a difference the 1 GHz and 4MB cache between the processors make?
The extra cache and the included fingerprint scanner are what he keeps talking about with the iBuyPower model.
Well to be honest he mostly plays WoW, which I'm sure neither of these machines would have any trouble with. However, he does want to be able to play Portal and CoD4 on it as well.
My cousin wants to purchase a laptop for midrange gaming, for under $1500. Right now he's leaning towards the Battalion 101 CZ-8 Ultra Notebook from iBuyPower, while I was trying to convince him to buy the Gateway P-6831FX notebook, which was featured on the main page.
The biggest...
Oh boy. I went out and bought one of these months ago. When my dad saw it he went out and bought one himself. Well about 2 months ago his developed a horizontal line of stuck red pixels across the top. He dragged his feet getting an RMA number and even has yet to send the monitor away. It...
Well if anyone it wondering I did RMA it to Razer. I found that my old mouse only shared the problem if the Razer mouse was plugged in first. A clean reboot with only my old mouse connected experienced no problems at all; so it most assuredly was the Razer mouse.
If that thing would do scaling I'd buy it myself. The 360 doesn't even have any 16:10 ratio resolutions and the Soyo doesn't have a scaling option other than stretch.
If I remember correctly, when I had dual monitors the mouse was free to move over both in a number or strategy games but not first person shooters. I'd say it depends on the game.
I did a system restore to two days before the problem showed up. It was still there. So I undid the system restore and it seemed like the problem went away, but then I restarted and it was back. I don't know.
I bought a refurbished blue Razer Copperhead mouse from Woot.com a little over a week ago. I didn't get it and hook it up until Friday.
I'm having a weird issue with my mouse now. Ever since I started using this mouse and installed the new drivers and firmware anytime I click something it...
Hmm, I bought an XFX 6600GT that had a failing fan before. I RMA'd it and got a working one in return. Later my cards started giving me some graphical glitches. I swore I'd never buy XFX again but I think that might have been a bit severe. Especially compared to all this.
And that's why it says "Cashier: Please open box and verify contents, making sure the UPC barcode matches the one seen here" on the box.
I was actually afraid of that and when I bought the card myself the first thing I did was check that the card's Part Number and the one on the box were...
Since the cards were on sale this week I started checking the availability online every day. Well last night, while I was pulling an all-nighter to finish a final, I noticed them in stock at a Best Buy a half-an-hour's drive away. So I headed over there, without getting any sleep, and arrived...
Eh, the PC is my preferred gaming platform. Right now I only have two 6600GTs and I can't run any new games above minimum settings. It's worth it to me but I can see where it wouldn't be worth it to some.
Well either I was mistaken or my local Best Buys sold out very quickly because the website no longer lists it as available. There's no way I'm ordering this online and forgoing 10% off.
So I have a .pdf of the 10% off coupon and my local Best Buy has some in stock. Great, I'll finally get a 8800GT right? No, my printer is busted and the new one hasn't been delivered yet.
Well I guess I said that I was running essentially the same system because I was before upgrading said RAM and processor. I suppose I should have said with some more RAM and a better 939 processor the 8800GT would be fine.
I'm running essentially the same system. Except I recently upgraded to 2 gigs of RAM and have an FX-60 processor. I expect to see a big improvement from SLIed 6600GTs to a 8800GT.
Really? Because I hooked my monitor with the same DVI cable to my dad's PC for a weekend and he told me he never experienced the anomalous pixels. Of course he isn't as heavy a user and doesn't often change resolutions.
My "sparkles" problem got worse and worse when I was frequently switching resolutions to play games. I switched my two SLI cards and haven't had as bad a "sparkles" problem now but then again I haven't been playing games as much recently.
The 8800GT is exactly what I've been waiting for but I'll still wait. I've waited this long. The price of the 8800GT might come down a bit or maybe some yet to be released cards will blow it away. I am leaning towards Nvidia though, just because I have a SLI mobo.
I've had two 6600GTs for over a year and a half now. I don't think I'm going to wait for the better cards any longer. This looks like just what I was waiting for.
Question. Does anyone know off the top of their heads what kind of panel this Compaq LCD Monitor has?
My cousin bought one, and over paid for it judging by the Newegg price, and wondered.
Well I'd imagine that a 800x600 game running on a 1920x1200 native resolution monitor with aspect-ratio maintaining scaling would actually look pretty sharp. Since after all the 4:3 aspect-ratio counterpart to 1920x1200 is 1600x1200 and I'd imagine that the monitor would just use 4 pixels for...
Mine is noted as M24E15 in my Nvidia Control Panel.
I haven't tried eliminating different environmental factors since it only occurs a few times a week anyway and I'd have to eliminate those factors for some time.
I took a quick video of the "flickering pixels", "sparklies", or whatever people are calling them. It seems that some are worse than others and of different colors but these are what I'm getting.

The problems seems to only occur on...
I don't know if there's an issue with that. When I had two of the Soyos hooked up both were to separate 6600GTs.
I finally got a response from Soyo about the flickering which said that it might be caused by my surge protector, just some problems with my video cards, or a magnetic field...
I've never used Multimon before but did use Ultramon for some time and was pleased with it.
Look out for the flickering pixels on certain colors. Mine had that problem, I returned it because of some vertical bars and the replacement had the same problem. Now over two weeks later my dad...
If you ask me SLI is only worth it for those who want better performance than the most expensive cards can offer (by buying two of the top of the line), or those who already have a card and want a cheap performance boost to give them a little more time before upgrading is necessary. If you buy...
