Read about that, sounds nice. But can you use an SSD for a primary and RST?
Might try breaking 20gig off of it if I can go back to full size if needed.
Just built a new 2500K z68 with an intel 320 120gig.
I do games, image editing, and some video editing. Along with the usual PC apps.
I can't find all my games on the SSD. Is it worth it to manage and juggle game installs to/from the SSD for games?
Is it worth installing Adobe Suite on...
So what's happening tomorrow? Is that the first day companies can show what they have to offer? How soon should I expect to be able to order one and have it in hand?
Thanks all for the info.
I'm starting to get the upgrading jones and very tempted by the Asus P67 (probably sabertooth) boards with 2500K. But of course I'm starting to hear talk of z68.
Is it worth waiting for? What's it going to get me if I wait? What's the extra co$t of waiting?
Running q6600 now and starting...
Got my P5k-e/wifi-AP ($155.99) from newegg just this week. Not much time but no problems so far.

Do you have DDR2 memory now? Q6600 is a great buy right now. SLI mobo's NF68-A1 I believe is the favorite, but people around here seem to prefer the P35 chipset, doesn't give you SLI but it's more stable, and a better OC than 680i boards.
Just OC'd my Q6600 on my P5K-E Took it to 3.0 with nothing more than changing the FSB to 333. didn't bother to tweak or go any further. The hexus.net threads below are really good.

Just built a new Q6600 setup and was concerned about my case and room temps.
Found a cool way to monitor my case and room temps using a RadioShack indoor/outdoor temp monitor

There is another thread going right now that talks about no advantage unless the cpu and heatsink are both done. Not the expert in any of this but I'd say do your stock and OC temp reads and see how good/bad they are and go from there
Bit-Tech article from July so I'm sure it made the rounds back then. Posting because it seems really good, and helpful for those of us that just started looking.

I've decided on P35 over 680i since I'll never user SLI. Don't need Crossfire either. Like to have the RAID option and I use firewire sometimes. These 3 seem to fit my needs.
Looking at a Q6600 set with a small OC at some point, already have a Tuniq 120.
Given that it's about $120-150 more than other really nice boards. Those being IP35-Pro, P5k-E. And about $80 than the Nf68-A1.
I know it's something of a apples to oranges comparison given some are SLI and some aren't, but is it worth it?
What do you get for the extra $?
From what I've picked up around the boards and some reviews. 680i if you need SLI. P35 if you don't.
I've not seen much talk about the 650i. The p35 tend to be easier to OC, run cooler in general.
Everyone's point is. You bought a really nice piece of ocean front property but now you can only afford to put up a 1 room house.
If you'd bought a nice piece of land in town you would have money to put up a nice house.
Did you just get a good deal on the mobo? That's normally a $300 board...
From what I've gathered First Q of 2008 but I think those are only going to be the upper end chips. They're supposed to be really good, what little I've seen.
That's a loaded question with no easy answer. 2 choices. # 1Work around or get used to your bottleneck in someway #2upgrade. Assuming you've done all you can or want to do for #1. The Q6600 is a good option 2.
If you're not happy with your current proc and have the money know, it's a good...
I don't see any 1066 memory listed in Asus's QVL for memory http://dlsvr03.asus.com/pub/AS...triker_Extreme_QVL.pdf
So that doesn't help. Assuming this board supports 1066 (It's a kick ass board so I'd say so) Even though the site doesn't mention it "Dual-channel DDR2 800/667/533"
Does this...
Don't have an answer, but I'd suggest giving details on your Proc, any OC your doing, and OS your running.
guessing you've checked Asus for recommended sticks already?
What they're saying is the way MS licenses Windows you may not own a copy of windows that you can transfer to a upgraded PC. A new motherboard and CPU will trigger Windows registration causing you to re-register your Windows. MS may or may not acknowledge that as a valid license.

I'm looking at getting either the EVGA NF68-A1 or the Striker Extreme, probably the EVGA.
This memory Crucial Ballistix BL2KIT12864AA804

And a Q6600, I'd like to do some basic OC to get it around 3.0ghz Is that reasonable?
