Depends, if you live in New Zealand the Maori will claim ownership of everything. I'm not joking, they are currently trying to claim the radio spectrum and ownership of water resources.

what is up with people who dont pay at the pump?

I haven't seen an enabled pay at the pump unit for probably the last three or so years. There's always the chance that some independently owned service stations still have some running though.

The ability to pay at the pump has long since been removed/disabled where I live (New Zealand). I believe the idea is to force you to go into the service station where you are much more likely to purchase goodies at extortionate rates. The oil companies claim there is little/no profit to be made...

NZ? When to Visit May or Ausgust?

Catlins and Dunners are fucking epic - well worth the trip. Avoid Invercargill itself if you can, it's the arse hole of NZ. Bluff is worth a visit though and so is Stewart Island.

In general, the NZ military is an absolute joke. Only the NZSAS get to be actual soldiers, everybody else is held back by the tree hugging NZ government.
