Of course.
A simple reboot brought the original image back in the same state it was.
Now, what would cause Windows 10 to freeze (at 32%) during the Install portion ???
My Toshiba laptop has FROZEN right in the middle of doing the Windows 10 Upgrade!
Did Microsoft just brick my laptop ? Will they buy me a new one ?
My laptop is a little over a year old and I've never had any issues with it what-so-ever. It "was" running Windows 8.1 with all...
A few years back I owned a DVD-RW that I could record TV shows off my Cable/DVR box. It went bad and I never replaced it at the time.
I'm now looking for a replacement. What do you recommend ?
TIA
I have an IBM T30 here that needs a new LCD panel.
I hear that LCD panels are interchangeble between brands (to a certain extent).
What other brands/models would be compatible with my IBM T30 Model 2366 ?
The part # is Samsung LTN141XE-L01 also 11P8289 and 11P8294.
I think I tried one of the Broadcoms and it didn't work.
I would be interested in picking up a Restore disk from you.
Shoot me an Email --> Katmandu(AT)woh.rr.com
Ok, got it ID'd and got all drivers found/loaded except the On-Board Ethernet (Need help finding it).
I used Belarc Advisor, SiSoft Sandra and also www.PCPitStop.com to help in my search. I also used HP's website that helps ID the configuration (cool tool!).
Here's what it is...
Good info!
I'll probably be working on my buddy's PC again tomorrow sometime. I'll report back my progress.
I'm going to try and ID the MB using Bearc Advisor and SiSoft Sandra.
Trust me. There isn't. Just an HP sticker over the MB model#.
It's one of those security type stickers that is near impossible to tear off. Access to it is extremely limited as well. Right between a Ram slot, CPU and some capacitors.
Under which Tab should I look to find this info ?
When I get back over my buddy's house, I'm going to use Belarc Advisor and SiSoftSandra to "try" and ID the MB.
The only ID is on the MB, but it's covered up by a HP security type sticker and CAN'T be removed.
What program can I use to ID the motherboard ?? Si-Soft Sandra perhaps ???
While setting up a buddy's HP (no model #) desktop today with XP, we ran into this odd problem.
We are having a very difficult time getting the on-board (embedded) peripherals (Ethernet, Audio and Video) to work!!
Almost always after loading up XP (fresh install), one is able to access...
It's a Notebook (brand) made by Clevo.
When I get time here, I'm going to check out the BIOS settings and if necessary, I am going to check out the heatsink/CPU bond situation.
Thanks for the tips folks! I'll report back shortly.
Check out this reply (below) I received from another board......
Interesting. In one of the tests I did on the CPU, I saw where it was reporting 1/2 of the expected values.
It's a 2.4Ghz CPU running 400Mhz. It was reporting in as 1.2Ghz @ 200Mhz.
Now, is the Bus speed limited...
I don't either.
BTW, I've tried (3) separate HDDs. None had any effect on the laptop shutting down with 7-9 minutes remaining.
Any other ideas here folks ????
I've also tried to address any overheating issues using various, creative methods!
I've flipped open the keyboard (to expose the HDD CPU/Fan) and put a small vial of frozen liquid (in a small vial of course!)on TOP of the where the CPU/Fan sits.
I also raised up the back end of the...
Nope. Flys right on by 34%. I remember seeing a MS Tech report on your issue.
Mine is still crashing with 7-9 minutes remaining.
I've downloaded Ultimate Boot Disk and ran many, many diagnostic tests. All hardware checked out just fine.
I did CPU, RAM burn-in tests, several different...
Sorry for the slow reply. I've been blown away at work.
I haven't had time to do all the required diagnostic testing.
I did reboot the router and that seems to have helped (for now!).
I have (3) computers running of a Linksys WRT54G router. (2) are hardwired and the other is Wireless.
All run and connect to the net just great when they are all ON. However, whenever I turn this particular PC off for the night, it "somehow" disconnects the others from the Internet...
Thanks for your reply can't-install-windows buddy#2!
It's odd to me that it happens precisely at the SAME POINT each and every time. That is why I'm wondering if the HD may have a bad sector.
It's like it reaches this point on the HD and immediately SHORTS out the laptop.
There are...
While "trying" to install XP on a laptop, gets to around the (9) minutes to go point and just SHUTS OFF!
I've tried about 6-7 times to reinstall and everytime it shuts off at the SAME point.
Is this an indicator of a bad sector on the Harddrive ??
Does it mean this HD is shot ??
I tore the laptop down and looked at the CPU/Heatsink connection. The old thermal pad is very discolored and appears wasn't making good contact.
Now, how can I tell if the CPU was actually damaged OR if it was just that the thermal pad deteriorated ???
It doesn't even get to Setup before it Reboots itself.
I tried another HD and that's futile because it's rebooting BEFORE it even starts looking for the HD. I reset the RAM module and no difference.
I'm in the middle of tearing it all down to check the CPU/Heatsink/Thermal paste issue...
Still does it on and off battery power as well. No difference.
Any other ideas ?
Could it be the thermal paste on the CPU dried out or maybe the thermal chip on the motherboard ?
How do I troubleshoot this problem ?????
I have a HP ZE 4400 here that after the power button is pushed, it will reboot itself after (3) seconds. It continues this rebooting issue until the system is turned off.
It will not turn off using the power button since in reverts to the battery. I have to pull the battery to get it to...
Does XP benefit from Dual-Core technology's ability to multi-thread and
other multi-core technology ???
If so, what performance changes could be expected over a single core CPU ??
I'm looking at doing a build soon and need some recommendations on MB/CPU/Ram etc...
My budget $300 or less (if possible).
I'm not a gamer, but I am an extremely heavy Net user. I usually have 5-10 IE browser windows open at once. Each with 2-3 tabs running.
I usually have a 2-3 apps...
Some mentioned elsewhere about this deal.
