what the most current compatible gfx card i can get to run on this board? currently running an HIS HD 2600XT. is it worth it to upgrade to a SAPPHIRE HD 3850 agp? can i run a 4870 like someone mentioned earlier? if so what's the best brand; SAPPHIRE? any help is appreciated. thanks...

^ pc shuts down fine. i had a 4.6 index score before with just 2GBs (2 x 1GB) shortly after i upgraded to 3GBs my index score went up to 4.7 after trials & errors w/ the bios' settings; i'm currently at 4.5 need to keep tweaking for that 4.7 again.

well after a weekend of troubleshooting the bios i can so far only boot successfully at; Q6600 rev. B3 @ 2.4Ghz 3GBs (3072MB) DDRII @ 533MHz (2 x 2GB) and to tell you the truth there was actually no increase in performance whatsoever. the only thing i noticed was my ram usage went...

not to get off topic here but i'm happy to report i'm up & running VISTA Ultimate at 3Gbs of ram. gonna try vista 64 to see if i can register the full 4Gbs. i'll keep everyone posted. plus i'll have some question regarding CPU-Z & bios.

i'll give it a shot and post what happened. btw, i have the 1.80 bios currently. i started w/ 1.5 then 1.6 and 1.7 ... still the same issue of no reboot when fsb is changed.

so far i've been successful in rebooting when making very minor changes in my bios. however whenever i change the FSB (even setting it to manual) it doesn't reboot.

^ i'll give those settings a shot tonight. changed some settings last night on the AGP part and it tried to reboot and instead gave me a windows.exe error and wanted me to re-install VISTA again to repair it. just had to reset the pc & pick default bio settings and it started back up.

i think i've about given up on this board. no matter what i change in the bios the pc just hangs upon reboot via "save & exit". i've been able to reset by ram timings of that recommended by the mfg but nothing changes. it's rated 667mhz 4.4.4.12 and cpu-z rates it at 533mhz 4.3.3.10 ??? also...

i'm trying to figure some things out here. ok so if the Q6600 2.4Ghz w/ a 9X multiplier is at 2400/9 = 266Mhz while trying to have the CPU & RAM at 1:1 & DDR2 would be 266 x 2 = 533Mhz would my best shot be ram rated at DDR2 533? i'm running 667 so i guess that doesn't give me 1:1 is...

^ folder is there. windows up to date. i have .NET 1.1 + 1.1 hotfix + 3.5 even when i check the programs listed under the control panel it only list ATI Catalyst Install Manager. no CCC.

i didn't get to try ur settings you posted the other day. i will try them tonight. the RAM lists 1.8-2v and registers 2Gbs just not at 667Mhz but 533Mhz. so far the ram is what's giving me a Vista score of 4.6 when all my other scores are 5.4+. you know i think i haven't cleared my CMOS...

yeah i tried your settings and basically my pc won't reboot after changing the bios. it just hangs and i have to reset it until it starts back up and then load optimal settings to get her working right again. should it take a couple of minutes to reboot or should it be instant? do you mind...

you're right. i prefer to stay with DX9 until i build a fresh DX10 machine in the future. so what's the best AGP 1950 card available? my only preference is 512MB.

any idea when that AGP 3850 is coming out? the AGP HiS 2600XT came out and is alread sold out / out of stock. HiS 2600XT should i still try to get it or just wait for the 3850? newegg had it before xmas for 169.99 after a 30 rebate which i thought was really good. now it's just hard to find.
