Network card is very slow

Regarding manufacturer: the chip on the onboard NIC is Qualcomm Atheros ETHOS AR8151 - I have not been able to find anything about issues with this. I do have SLI video cards so I wonder if that is not helping. I think I have PCI-E NIC kicking around though so I will try that suggestion.

Canadian NewEgg is slightly cheaper I think. I am really torn between just dumping money into SLI 580s now or just waiting for the next set of products from both companies. But then again who can be sure if the products will be even out this year.

Can I get away with 1000W PSU for dual 580s / unlocked dual 6950s? Dual 580s would cost me around 1800 dollars (keep in mind Im only buying Proc/Mobo/Graphics), where as the 6950s drop the price around 1300 (Canadian). I was looking at eVGA for the 580s and MSI for the 6950s.

Arent AMD cards a lot noisier though? What exactly is wrong with 590s? EDIT: Sorry just noticed the 590 being slower than SLI 580s. Still though 580s are 600 each and 590 is 750 here. EDIT #2: 3GB or 1.5GB GTX 580s? I want to be able to play Witcher 2 at Ultra settings in 1080p.

Will swithcing to a Wireless N adapater matter on a Wireless G router?

I think a good analogy here is buying a Ferrari as replacement for oh I dont know a Subaru. Yes it is quicker but in the end you still have the speed limits on the road to slow you down. Your signal strength should improve but the speed won't go up that much. The router is limited to the 54mpbs...

DIR-655 Packet Drop over N vs G

I have another suggestion - is the WiFi security mode set to TKIP or AES? I have some D-Link routers (625 and 655) and I had insane amount of packet drop on TKIP cipher - on AES there are no such issues - maybe because the AES encryption is done by a dedicated chip. Hope this helps
