It seems I was wrong...having upgraded to bios 13 I thought the double boot still had not been fixed on my system. Now if I reset the pc it doesn`t double boot, only when I power the system up cold
You definately have a problem there as I too have an e6550 and it`s currently idling at 26c, on full load maybe 56-57c. Oh, and it`s overclocked to 3 Ghz on stock cooling.
As Serpentroyal has already suggested see if the HSF is properly seated
I`ve just updated to the 13 BIOS, reset my modest overclock to what it was before, set my memory timings as they were previously (4-4-4-12) and windows would not fully boot. Dropped timings back to default (5-5-5-18 2T) and windows now appears fine again.
The double boot issue is...
I`ve just run memtest test #5 for 50 cycles and it passed with flying colours :)
The CPU is running at 7x429Mhz at the moment under full load, giving me just over 3 Ghz.
I got the e6550 rather cheap from ebay as the seller had bought it not realising he needed a 1333 Mhz fsb board, so it was...
I didn`t realise that it could be burned to cd...thanks, will download now.
I run coretemp and speedfan, which I have recalibrated as it did report wrong temps (-15c)
Does PWM refer to the Northbridge? And which one is it on the board? Closest to the rear? I`m thinking of placing a fan...
Thanks for that Serpentroyal. I can`t run Memtest as it has to go on a floppy (?) and my system does not have one. Is there another way to test the memory? The ram is currently running at 429Mhz. Geil recommend that I use 2.1v with this ram?
Are my core and PWM temps ok and what would you...
First, let me say this board is great. I currently have an e6550 running at 3.0 Ghz on stock cooling. Temps can run up to 56-57c under stess, but I think this is within safe limits. Idle it rests at 29-31c - certainly a lot cooler than my previous AMD64 3700+
I did wonder if it really was...
