Thinking about upgrading my current rig i7 920 /w a 9800GTX+ for this game. The downside is that I'm now running at 2560x1600 as I've been using this machine to write code more than play games for the past 2 years.
Any recommendations on somewhat affordable video cards that could push BF3 at...
Picked up this card at CompUSA the other day. Seems like the best price available. Find it here.
Only caveat is that you have to go through WorldRebates.com for the rebate and it comes as either a check card/written check.
My installer put in the cat5 baluns to run HDMI to my projector ( room was only wired for BNC/Component). It takes two cat5 cables to do it.
Only problem I had was with overheating of the balun near the projector because of the way it was fastened directly to the body of the projector...
stinking Lifers and their one letter responses :)
I'd go with the first choice because a lot of x58 boards can't go too high on the memory voltage, but I can't speak from experience. I doubt you will see much difference between the timings.
I think your instincts are right on, the power supply and/or Hard drive seem to be the culprits. I'd recommend changing out the PSU for now and seeing if that fixes it.
Also make sure your temps are not going too high, if it's failing after a little while overheating could be a problem.
I'm seriously LOLing over here because the exact same thought crossed my mind. If I'm buying the i7 CPU at Microcenter, my eagerness may win out over my wallet and I'll end up picking up that Corsair RAM and the vanilla P6T, likely regretting both choices within a week.
I've got the OCZ...
I'd go with 2GB of ram. Also make sure your case can handle the 5 hard drives. One thing that many don't realize is that spinning drives create a lot of heat. Even if you have the slots for it, the heat generated might become an issue. Especially if you're throwing your server into a closet...
I was looking at the MSI pretty heavily but it seems to be a lot pickier about RAM. Newegg has the best RAM deals out there, but their return policy on most of the good sticks really sucks! If you end up with incompatible sticks you're hosed.
Also I've read a lot of bad stories about the MSI...
I'm looking at the MSI X58 Pro. Supports up to 24GB of memory + has the optical port you want. Overclockability seems to be a mixed bag though.
Here's the link to it on Newegg.
still no luck...I've tried a number of things and still nothing can ping or access this machine even though its able to get out onto the internet and ping the other machines on the network. Please help.
Having a big problem with my main machine (running XP Pro). No other computer on my LAN is able to ping it or see any of its network shares. I've tried both Vista and other XP machines on the LAN with no avail. This box, however, can ping and access shares on the other LAN Machines.
It...
Hmm I think I will wait till next year and go C2D after Vista...doesn't seem like the boost I could get would be worth it.
Maybe its time to start pushing my A64 3000+ with some OCing.
Prices are a little high for me to upgrade the GPU right now...I can't justify spending more than $300 for a new video card. Can you get anything in that range that will give any significant boost over at 7800GT?
I'm looking for a quick boost from this setup:
A64 3000+ S939
DFI Ultra D Nf4
2 GB OCZ DDR CAS 2
Nvidia 7800GT PCI Express 512MB
Company of Heroes is being a little sluggish and I'm looking for a quick boost...was thinking of going with an X2 4600+ or 4800+ but I"m not sure if its money...
Legacy GT spec B is manual tranny only. Gotta get an automatic this time so the wife can drive it. Also the mileage on the Legacy GT is piss poor. It drinks gas like a 6 cylinder.
No I really don't have any "rational" complaints about the accord, it just gave me a very familiar feeling when I was hoping for something new.
There really is nothing wrong with an accord and it is a great car. I just got a very strong "been there, done that" feeling when I sat in it...
Passat was a little bit out of my range. Also the new Jetta is quite a bit bigger than the previous generation.
I guess after driving Japanese cars for years, my expectations as far as reliability goes are pretty high.
I agree that driving isn't about getting to point A to point B for me...
I said it feels the same...you sit in a 10 year old one and you sit in a brand new one and relatively little has changed.
And I read the specs on the GLI to figure out its mileage. I test drove it to see how it rides.
I love the TSX...but my wife already has one...didn't really want to get the same thing.
Honestly its spoiled me so much...compared to the TSX, everything else feels like a compromise somewhere.
Ugh nevermind...Subaru is out. Mileage sucks. 19 in the city, 25 on the highway. Everything I've seriously looked at is closer to 30 hwy (which is very important for me with my 60 mile roundtrip daily commute).
I also care about reliability/quality. I'm sorry, but I just don't see that Mazdas or most American cars in my price range meet my standards for reliability.
I'm gonna look into this now...earlier I was seeing the starting at $28K price on the website and instantly turned away.
Now it seems like they're in a model year end clearance on these so I might be able to get one more in my range. Also hopefully they give me more for my trade.
I'll...
I felt most comfortable with the Camry...but my sales experience was just bad. Its surprising that for the #1 car in America they'd have such issues with something simple like obtaining an SE V6.
