New Rig with no sound

yeah i meant sound card not video card, oops! i was just saying if neither your soundcard or onboard audio work then its most likely something with vista rather than your soundcard and onboard both being dead, which is unlikely.

the way he stated it he made it sound like he tried onboard sound while it was disabled in the bios which would keep it from working. i dont think its defective, its more likely a vista problem then anything else.

yeah i agree, 6 120MM fans might be a little overkill unless you know what your doing.

hmm yeah i read a few reviews of the 8800GT and its a damn good card for 200$. maybe i will get one for christmas and a second one for my birthday, maybe then i will be able to play crysis on low @ 800x600 :P joking aside, crysis on low looks like absolutely crap, unfortunately thats all...

New 7600GS card crashes PC in games.....

well not necesarilly. if they say 400 that doesnt mean you should get an 800watt because thats a waste. when it comes to video cards the wattage rating isnt usually as important as the 12V rail ratings. for just about any card a 600watt with dual 12V rails running lets say 22AMPS per rail...

i know that not having any sound is very frustrating and ive been there before, it hurts. that said, heres some basic things to try out. first off, try uninstalling and reinstalling the latest drivers for your video card. secondly, try removing your sound card and enabling the onboard...

thats a top rig mate! good future proofing with the quad core, cant go wrong with 4 gigs of ram (ram is dirt cheap nowadays compared to a year or two ago) might want to throw in a second 8800GT once you get enough money, youll need it for that 30" gateway if you want to play the latest games.

Current Specs- CPU-Amd 64 X2 4200+ 939 (stock speeds) GPU-EVGA 7600GT (600/1600) MOBO-Foxconn NF4SK8AA SLI (16x 16x in SLi) so heres my question, christmas is coming up and i was thinking of either getting the 8800GT or just wating for the 8900/9800 Series cards to come out and getting one...

your CPU is fine for right now, there was an article on CPU performance in the crysis demo and FPS difference was negligable (even at the 1440x900 resolution) until they underclocked a 2.66 C2D to 1.6 and even then the difference was only 2 fps at the low 1440x900 resolution. your cpu should...

Suggestions for a new LCD monitor!

i would go with the samsung for two reasons. (1) The samsung has a better contrast ratio (2) Samsung is a much better brand than acer, especially when it comes to LCD's either way, the samsung or the acer would be a nice choice and i would go with the acer if it was cheaper.
