Installed Win2K pro...now the problems...HELP!

Search the internet for bios beep codes, and maybe add the brand of bios. I agree about the printer, get all new software from HP site. I had to with Win2000.

I use all the usual hardware. Some flavor of Nvidia Geforce 2 or 3, Soundblaster Live or Audigy's, Netgear NIC, etc. Simple games like UT will lock up on occasion. Most of these systems are built by a friend of mine, and I end up having to tune them up. I would like a rule of thumb or list...

Maxtor hard drives/Maxblast?

Well, I thought I knew how to set up drives, until this one. I know how to use Fdisk very well, and I know how to enter the correct values for the hard drive in bios. What am I missing?

Maxtor hard drives/Maxblast?

Tried to install an 80 gig Maxtor in a 1700 Athlon system. Fdisk thought it was a 10 gig drive. I think it auto-detected the cyclinders/heads, sectors wrong. I went to Maxtor's site and got the specs. I entered the correct values and then fdisk thought the drive was about 11 gigs. Ended up...

I just can't seem to get a Via or AMD chipset motherboard to be stable like my older BX and 815 motherboards. What am I doing wrong? I use 98, 2000, XP, and I am familiar with 4 in 1's and AMD AGP drivers. What order do I install these things, and do I need them all with each OS? I realize...

harddrive - partitioning ??? wuts that?

As far as adding a drive, first have a fresh Start up disk on a floppy. Then check the jumper on the back of the drive. Your first drive on the ribbon cable is Master, the second drive on a ribbon is slave. Doesn't matter which plug on the ribbon cable you use. Jump the drives this way...

To go to ME from 98, you are best off formatting the drive and starting over. Or, uninstall all programs, delete all folders except for the folders with your files you want to save. Delete Windows folder too. Use start up disk to do this from dos. Then install ME. I would rather format...

Either my p3 700 fc is bad or could it be the asus s370 adapter?
