Build a new computer or upgrade?

Go to bios, load defaults, save & exit, go to bios again, change overclocking to manual, back up your files, do a clean OS install, you should eliminate most of the issues. If you can't, time to buy a new rig.

Question about IE plugins and their publisher

Those companies are the ones to be trusted. Just be sure to download the plugins/players from them, instead of some lesser known sites. BTW, if you haven't already, google IE7Pro & secure your I.E.

Official support for e7200 and e7300 on the Gigabyte GA-P35-DS3R.

Same mobo & bios. F12f was pretty stable. I lost my o/c settings due to overheating. That's saying about the bios's fail-safe. Thanks for the heads-up. I'm gonna put it in my family pc.

P45 worth it over P35?

For 5 years, def. P45 at a minimum. :) Most new cards are PCI-E 2.0. HD 4850 included. It may not make a difference in a single-card setup, but it may in a Crossfire.

Buying a e2160 n waiting for Q9x50 prices 2 drop?

Intel price cuts take effect at the end of month. Just 2 more weeks. By then, there may be gpu's with lower prices. GTX 200's just have price cuts.

One of the reasons the o/c settings won't stick is that the o/c isn't stable. Try upping vcore, and maybe vfsb/vnb & vdimm by a notch.

Are you serious that your ambient temp is 50C? If so, 60'c for Kentfield isn't high. If your cpu hsf is seated and installed correctly, there's nothing much you can do other than turning on an A/C or swapping the hsf out for watercooling/TEC. You're using the stock cooler?

Use a surge surpressor or better yet a UPS. It could be dirty power. Reseat everything. 7B? Could be memory. Your bios settings may have reverted to defaults inadvertently. It did on my family pc that overheated. If it were memory, it could corrupt windows...

Easiest way to switch from XP32 to Vista64

Just get all the latest drivers for Vista 64 on USB drive prior to upgrading, then boot up Vista disk, format the whole drive, install.
