All depends, my VX2435wm has 30-40ms of input lag. I do not notice it personally. I am not a pro gamer so I do not mind or notice even. Also I cannot notice any ghosting issues but again sometimes this is a personal inclincation thing and some people notice ghosting a lot easier than others.

@VX2435WM Inquirers: I cannot find an input auto detect. The input seems to default to the last selected input. So I leave it on HDMI for my computer and switch it manually to Component for my HDTV tuner. If I turn the monitor off it will come back on with whichever input was last...

That is exactly what I wanted, I know that no monitor seems to be perfect but I couldn't go an buy a monitor that didn't have 16:9 and 4:3 modes since you need to force TV signals into those modes because I do not have a pc internal tuner and thus the signal comes as 3:2 for normal television...

I don't know how prevalent a factor it should be, but you might wish to note whether the monitors have HDCP compliant inputs. If the NEC and the HP were equal in all instances, the fact the NEC has an HDCP compliant input makes it a tad bit better in my mind at least.

Of the ones mentioned in tetra's post I would rec the Gateway FHD2400. It has been on sale on and off for the past several weeks at $499.99 at either Best Buy or Circuit City. Then people usually do price match because it is 110% usually at those stores. Don't think it is on sale in any B&M...

Try ensuring that HDMI is the selected input source. I have read a few things that state the monitor does not have auto input selection therefore if you theoretically have to do it manually. On another note, TechOnWeb raised their price on the VX. :( Not by much but they are not hands...

Looking at a white screen should allow you to see whether dead sub-pixels exist based on the color of the pixel when trying to produce white one can determine which sub-pixels are actually dead. At least that is how it should be :).

I want my monitor for movie and television viewing to open up some space in my studio apartment. If I was sitting at my desk directly in front of the screen I wouldn't have a problem with the TN panel either, unfortunately my chair is on wheels and I like to move. Oh and I have a couch too...

So if one was to set the monitor to standard color profile and then calibrate it, either automatically or manually, you cannot seemingly reproduce this effect? Are there other benefits to switch the monitor into gaming mode?

Here you go: Circuit City has a 15% restocking fee, on their 14 day monitor return policy... Best Buy does not. Hope this helps, and just cause its listed doesn't mean it can't be haggled to zero :).
