I bought the MSI for $199. It's sweet. It never gets above 55 under load. Idles around 40.
The tech report compared 8800s to 9600s.

The 180 and 182 are just flat out cool looking but I also like this cooler master for a lot cheaper.

I had to reinstall nTune but it's not showing up in nvidia's control panel now. I uninstalled it fist, rebooted, then reinstalled. There were no errors reported or anything. When I open control panel it's not there. Vista 32 bit Home. Any ideas? Google didn't turn up anything.
I wrote a message about it in this forum.
There is a solution I found on the Kaspersky forums. It works.
To all those who are having issues with loading specific websites and where unticking port80 helps with loading it, try to add it to TrustedZone...click...
I was having a lot of problems loading these forums. There's a thread about it here.
The culprit is Kaspersky Anti Virus.
There's a solution.
Thankfully there's a solution: HERE
Well, I think I've narrowed down my choice of 8800GT to this one from Newegg. It is slightly overclocked and with the rebate it's just too good to pass up. I just wonder about that weird copper pipe cooler. Not sure if it's all show and no go or what. No big deal if it doesn't work too well. I...
It's definetely Kaspersky. I spend over a minute trying to completely load this page in both Firefox and IE. I disabled Kaspersky and with Firefox as well as IE the page loaded in 1-2 seconds.
That's how I got my fps, with fraps. I tried recording a short 30 sec vid with frags. It was impossible to play with fraps recording. At most you get 30 fps, and worst I got down to 5 at times. lol
I have a year old (almost) AMD X2 4200+ 2.2GHz with 2 gigs of PC6400 ram and an Nvidia 7950. In COD4 I get about 35-45 fps on average in most maps. During heavy graphics it drops to about 25 fps. This is with texture settings on normal, no AA, and things like "glow" off. It's unreal how sluggish...
Success! I have it running at 220 x 10. HT x 5 (1100 MHz) , 4 4 4 12 t2, and the memory is running at 440 MHz. It has passed two hours of memtest so I'm happy. My SiSoft memory bandwidth bench went from the low 7000s to the mid 8000s. I can't complain for $40. lol I have noticed that my system...
Thanks, Dan. My new memory should be here Tuesday. It's 4 4 4 12. If it doesn't default to that can I just go in the bios and set those myself? I got everything else set. My PC5300 is now running at 366 MHz after I changed the CPU to 10 and the freq to 220.
Dan, thanks for the reply. I don't plan on keeping the PC5300. I have 2 gigs of PC6400 on the way. I'll probably buy one more gig of PC6400 in 2 x 512 config and used that.
I have a question. I have looked through my bios. I understand everything you said except perhaps the HTT multiplier...
I see people talking about OCing their memory but for the life of me I can't find any webpages that explain how to do it with my board. I have an AMD X2 4200 and 2 gigs of PC5300. When I run CPU-Z it says: Core Speed: 2210, multiplier 11x, bus speed 201. It also says in the memory tab: Freq...
I was going to upgrade from 2 gigs of dual ch. system memory to 4 gigs until a friend told me that 32-bit OS's like my Vista 32-bit reserve part of memory for system hardware like the BIOS. He says Windows will only report between 2.75 and 3.5 gigs depending on your system.
Is there really...
