It's true! IDC is Jim Keller! Around the time Keller is sucked into the 14++++++ nm void, IDC goes radio silent here. Jim shakes off the blue shackles and IDC posts again. A coincidence? I don't think so.
Coincidence or not, great to hear from you, Jim IDC. We missed you. Not that you care.
Finally have my 3800X rig built. Stupid fast at stock. Turns out my X58 Forever slogan really was more exaggerated than initially claimed. ;-)
Oh well... Hope to get all my weirdo audio/video/motion graphic software installed and tweaked in time for either a Zen 3 upgrade (Asrock permitting)...
I was poking fun at their email message about the 3950X extinction event:
"We regret to inform you that this item has unfortunately been discontinued. Please check back on our website for similar or possible replacement items. "
Detroit may love you, but this forum is stunned. More than a little upset at your priorities. You could have spent $54k on your computer and less than $1k on the truck. Here's a perfectly serviceable '95 F-250 with a $200 starting bid. Sure it might breakdown a lot, but then you just stay home...
Evidence has been recently proven to be ineffective for mind changing. Here in this forum and farther out.
Since it's speculation until the final product evidence is released and changes no minds, I'm going on the speculative record with SMT3. The boring power of 2 dominance in this industry...
I don't have a poly-tech degree from google, but did get a good deal on a 3800X.
For $30 more than 3700x, why not? You get a better binned chip and more importantly, 35 more epeen points in the Great Anandtech Epeen Festival of the Peenies.
If the epeenies aren't that significant to your...
The DRP4 has ample clearance (40mm) for normal ram like the LPX. I know... 32mm is the new low profile. I remember when 18mm was low profile... but inflationary times.
It performs as well as most any 240mm AIO while being much quieter. Here's the only DRP4 on 3900X review I've found...
Hmmm... Seems Intel is very concerned about security.
Security of their share price. Last 2 quarters spent $15B on share buybacks. And another $20B approved by the board in the next 12-18 months. Pulling a wing out of the Boeing/McDonald playbook.
With that height restriction, the M9 is a very good choice. The M9 Plus is even better.
Also, that 200mm thermaltake fan is terrible. I've built a similar system with the V1 - a less restrictive version of the F1. Half of the intake air flow is wasted - spewing into the bottom of the case -...
Yeah... those were the days... I remember back in early September when I tried to order a 3900X, needed a note from Mark written on the back of a stack of 20s.
Perhaps you're trying to compensate for buyer's remorse and feel your e-peen has drooped about 1%. Disappointment is in the perception of the beholder.
If you don't have any tasks that utilize 24 threads, one option is to sell your 'operating as specified' 3900X for $100, have the Intel...
I'm going with All Of The Above plus more.
Fully expect an extra couple hot hot 5.5Ghz cores in a user-selectable extra chiplet - made at Intel, so they can keep those 14+++++++nm shareholder profits burning. And give the INTELigentsia a hot shiny sliver of a bragging point in their dark days...
Could you please state the methods you're using to test this message? With more details we can help you overclock your message to obtain full stability.
I decided to use a discounted 3800X as a hedge against 3900X speculation. My secret plan, now revealed on the internet, is to wait until early next year when certain 3900Xs used for medical research will flood the FS/FT forum for $200. That's my delusion and I'm sticking to it.
Have my X470 Taichi board, 32GB micron e-rev memory, Inland 1TB NVME, some TBs of data drives... will re-purpose a case and D15.
What's left? Oh...a 3900X. As a very late adopter (X58 in 2014), being a tardy early adopter is trying my patience. If there isn't a new batch released by the...
I don't see them... yet... but from the photos you posted... there's room in your 'lab' to store in bulk 3900Xs until just the right selling moment. ;-)
Also... I'm teasing...
