Can you clarify and speak to actual numbers (estimates). A SSD is around 200 MB/s read transfer lets say and in a RAID setup conservative is 350, etc.....
Ok I put the SSD on my desktop...
wow... huge difference. Yes, obvious but it was interesting to see the differences and how the lowly controllers bottleneck the drive.

Thanks for the quick reply. the 13.5% CPU used is probably an indicator i guess also. i tried shutting all the services down and have no antivirus installed. But yea your right. my OS ran on the drive so swap file was all on there. Thanks again for the suggestions!

HI,
I just bought an Intel G2 80 GB and put it into my laptop (Lenovo X200) core duo 2.66 mhz. I installed Win7 Ultimate
I ran some HD tune benchmarks and i am getting disappointing results. I ran it 4-5 times.
the CPU is very high and i never get over 200 MB/s where in other benchmarks...
Thanks Emulex for the advice... i just have a question on ICHXR controllers there is no need for enabling TLER since its not real RAID hardware right? we can just reboot if there is a dropout... i;m just asking for info... of course should still enable TLER...
Thanks.
Wow... thanks for the overwhleming support and aid.
But really thanks RebateMonger for the only one responding.
If anyone cares this is what i did.
1. i had to delete all the MBR and partition information on the drive that would freeze on the bios post in non RAID mode.
2. I had a...
I just found out its has nothing to do with the formatted partition. i have two sets od RAID 0 and the formatted partition set is still detectable. The other set is the one that hangs the AHCI boot sequence. that set had some MBR problems. i was going to fix it with a new windows install, but...
Help.
I formatted a partition from a RAID 0 setup during a windows xp installation and now when it tries to reboot it cannot detect both the drives in RAID 0 . I use the Intel on board RAID and it stalls on the bios reboot. I formatted a unallocated drive to ntfs during a windows xp setup. I...
if it launches at 4-16 GB now, (2010) then in 1-2 years i think 32-80 GB is not an issue... very exciting stuff... this may finally change the bottle neck on the pc...
Thanks...
Are my speeds typical? i've been trying to find some benchmarks, because someone was telling me that 4 blacks would get me 300 Mb/sec throughtput... true?
or maybe save for the Intell SSD :P
Hi
I'm doing RAID 0 on ICH9R on board. i am getting 180 Mb/sec top speeds and about 120 Mb/sec average. I have two setups on the controller
2 Blacks and 2 Greens.
Would it make more sense to do them all together? would i get better speeds?
TIA
I read somewhere that even if and when intel implements TRIM it would not greatly improve the I/O writes as it does table lookup differently... any insight?
