  1. Question Samsung monitor dead pixels policy

I'll try to pretend that the pixels aren't there anymore and the posts above are helping. I didn't know that this is quite a common situation nowadays. The dead pixels aren't even in the center of the screen, so it should be even easier to forget about it. It's quite shocking for me, that the...
  2. Question Samsung monitor dead pixels policy

So I have to live with it now, it seems...
  3. Question Samsung monitor dead pixels policy

Hello everybody, I have a quick question that I couldn't find an answer for everywhere I searched. So I have a C32HG70 Samsung monitor bought in April. A week ago I found three dead pixels on the screen: two are near each other making a big black dot and the third one is 4 cm further apart...
  4. Ryzen 2700 overclocking temp issue

I'm running a GTX 1080 overclocked with an Arctic Cooling Xtreme III strapped on it. You're right, I should probably be happy with what I have now and wait for Zen 2 on 7 nm next year. Or who knows, maybe the 2700X will have a massive discount after Intel releases its 9900K. So much hassle for...
  5. Ryzen 2700 overclocking temp issue

Regarding thermal paste, since at first I've used Coollaboratory Liquid Pro and the temps were still very high, I don't think that Grizzly Kryonaut will make much of a difference, if any, from the provided Thermalright Chill Factor 3, which is quite good. Anyways I've reseated the cooler once...
  6. Ryzen 2700 overclocking temp issue

Made a quick Prime95 test at 1.2 V and it was a no-go. So probably 1.25 V is as stable as it can be. I've also put the ram to 3466 mhz@16-21-21-42 2T from 19-23-23-42 2T . Tested it at 3733 mhz and it booted fine, but crashed in AC Origins. Might be stable at more volts ( 1.45 V ) but I won't go...
  7. Ryzen 2700 overclocking temp issue

I'm at 77 C at 1.25 V. No way I will ever be bellow 65 C, maybe only at stock. I've tried 3.95 ghz at 1.25 v and Prime95 froze instantly. As I've observed, probably 4.0 ghz is stable at 1.4 V and maybe 4.1 ghz is achievable beyond 1.45 V. But there is no chance I can cool it at those voltages...
  8. Ryzen 2700 overclocking temp issue

I'm at 3.9 ghz now with 1.25 V@77 C in Prime95 and it looks like I have a bit of room to drop it even further. I have to be happy with this,no!? :)
  9. Ryzen 2700 overclocking temp issue

To be honest after reading all the reviews and tests, I thought that 4.1-4.2 ghz is a breeze, even under air for 2700. But it does look like I've lost the silicon lottery with this one.
  10. Ryzen 2700 overclocking temp issue

Thanks for the info. I'll update as soon as I'll get home.
  11. Ryzen 2700 overclocking temp issue

Hello, I have a problem and I don't really understand which is the cause of it. Maybe someone has had a similar issue!? I have the following system: MSI B450 Gaming Pro Carbon AC; 2x8 gb Kingston HyperX @3466 mhz; Ryzen 2700 non X; Thermalright Le Grand Macho. Cougar Challenger case with two...
  12. Gtx 470/ ati 5850

At 36-38 C room temperature, no videocard is safe. GTX 470/480 have very high working temperatures: 94-96 C at ambients of 20-24 C. Imagine what will happen at 38 C ambient. Probably the fan will work at 100% speed and would still not be able to keep the card bellow 105 C and I don't know...
  13. 11 GTX480 vs. 5870 reviews in one chart (Updated with temps & OCs)

How can it dominate that long, when it runs at 95 C? Most of them will probably die after one year or so at that temp. ;)
  14. Techpowerup cooks omelet on GTX480 heatsink

The problem with that egg is that the contact between spoon and heatsink is very weak, they probably touch each other in a very small surface area, so even if the heatsink had 100 C+ it would not make the omelet, because there isn't any heat transfer between the two. Now, if he would have packed...
  15. e6400 to q6600 or q9400

I don't know, but I for one, think that Q6600 was the best CPU ever made. It came out in 2007 and 3 years later it just became even a better performer. It's exactly like the wine, the more time passes the tastier it gets. I don't remember a CPU that resisted so long, being able to stand in the...
  16. 8600gts is toasty

Why on earth would you overclock that card? It will bring no performance improvement whatsoever.
  17. The BFG GTX295 H2OC...should I keep it?

It's still a fast as hell card, so there is no reason to sell it now and get a 5870. Besides, there is no dx11 game out today and even when DIRT2 will be released, I have a feeling that you'll not going to miss a lot on a dx10 card.
  18. Dirt 2 Demo DX11 5870 CF Benchmark results.

Where did you get the PC demo? I can't find it anywhere.
  19. Q9550 or Q8300?

    Q9550 all the way.
  20. Q9550 OC + GA-P35-DS3L = Headache

I would try to use some heatsinks on the mofsets and improve the airflow around that area. Maybe they become too hot to function properly, when you increase the FSB with that quad. At least take a fan and point it towards that area.
  21. Q9550 OC + GA-P35-DS3L = Headache

It's something that you're doing wrong. It's impossible for that board not to hit 400 mhz FSB with that chip. Set everything to manual. Increase MCH voltage, put CPU voltage at 1.38 V, set ram timings manually, increase SB voltage, VTT voltage everything, but not to the maximum, 0.1 V or around...
  22. Fermi actually in January?

What are you talking about? All the 58XX series ATi made, were sold like hot donuts. ATi already had the head start and there is still December on the way, when we know that GPUs sell like crazy and since competition is still lacking, guess who will sell most of the gpus!? It would be great if...
  23. Question if you upgraded to a quad core for Crysis

You are getting higher CPU usage then me but it's still at 45%, which means that probably the fully loaded 2 cores would be spread out on the other two, so, doesn't really look like quad core optimization to me. Look at the pictures I've posted in Dragon Age, with 80% usage. That is a game...
  24. Will my psu handle a 4890?

Well at 34 amps you have 408 Watts available for the 12 V rail. 4890 sucks an absolute maximum (Furmark) of 190 Watts and you are left with 218 W for the rest of the components. Now, let's say that you hate your q9550 CPU and squeeze some 160 Watts out of it, then you'll be left with 58 Watts...
  25. Question if you upgraded to a quad core for Crysis

And this is how a quad core optimized game loads the cpu ( Dragon Age ). In only seconds after loading the saved game, the usage spiked to 80% of all four cores.
  26. Question if you upgraded to a quad core for Crysis

    Yes, probably around that.
  27. Question if you upgraded to a quad core for Crysis

This is what I get with Crysis, on the first level on the beach, everything put on Very High quality, 2X AA. The maximum I've seen was 30% cpu usage.
  28. Question if you upgraded to a quad core for Crysis

Sometimes I'm wrong too. It had happened before and it can also happen now :) Frequency is unimportant, if it uses all 4 cores at 90% at stock clocks, it will use them at 90% at 3.8 ghz. It's the same thing. I'll probably test this in a couple of hours, but I have to install the darn Crysis again.
  29. Radeon 5970 with Q9450 @ Default

Well, if we are talking about 2560X1600 and I know that in time there will probably be other games that you play, not just those you've listed, then why not get the 5970 monster? If money is not a concern ( like it is for most of us ) why not buy the fastest card available? We are all talking...
  30. Question if you upgraded to a quad core for Crysis

Can you read my sig? I have an overclocked quad core and if you can believe it or not, is not that far from yours. I have played Crysis and I know that it doesn't even comes close to that load you are talking about. If you can prove that then I'll stand corrected, otherwise you are just...
  31. Question if you upgraded to a quad core for Crysis

That I don't believe. Crysis doesn't know what to do with the third and forth core and it's severely limited by the GPU.
  32. Radeon 5970 with Q9450 @ Default

If your monitor is bellow 24", then don't bother with a card that's so powerful. A 5870 would be enough, or even wiser is to still keep your GTX 260. Also, Q9450 would probably be a bottleneck in some situations even for the GTX 260, imagine how will it be for a 5970. You really need to start...
  33. Question if you upgraded to a quad core for Crysis

Crysis it's not quad core optimized. It only eats two cores and needs as much as GPU power you can give it. So going to a quad will probably give you nothing in plus for performance, at least nothing that you can really feel. As MrK6 said, squeeze as much as you can from your E6550 and from your...
  34. HD 5750 cards

    *deleted
  35. HD 5750 cards

That is very true. But it's also much slower then 4870.
  36. HD 5750 cards

Yes, 4870 is a much better buy then 5750, in terms of performance, as long as you can still find it.
  37. Dragon Age: Origins -- CPU or Video upgrade first?

I get 80-90% of all four cores eaten up during this game. Only GTA 4 manages to score a higher cpu usage.
  38. Dragon Age: Origins -- CPU or Video upgrade first?

Dragon Age is quad core optimized, so it uses all four cores of a quad. Imagine that a single core is a serious bottleneck for it. A dual core would probably speed up things a lot. Also, your videocard should be changed as well. Get the 4670 first and I'm sure that you'll realize afterwards that...
  39. Upgraded to a new 4770; CODMW2 "pause"

I'm probably retarded and seen 4670 instead of 4770. That so sad, I'm loosing my mind... :( My above post still stands...sort of...
