Just wanted to add my 2 cents to this 1440p, 7970 discussion. I run Skyrim @ 1440p with everything ultra, FXAA and texture pack at 60fps constant for the most part on a 27" catleap. I have the 7970 at 1000/1400 right now, since it's a reference card and gets too loud over 50% fan speed. However...

That's true. These are the imperfect panels that could have 1-5 dead/stuck pixels or backlight bleeding that Apple or other A+ companies rejected. There is also no OSD, and you need a calibration tool if you want to tinker with the settings. However, you are paying half the price for this...

You both have a point. But also consider the fact that at 1440p resolution the pixels are so small that turning on more than 4xAA shows no noticeable difference in IQ. Yes, the slider goes beyond 4XAA, but there are not really any jaggies at this native resolution that I can notice, IMHO. :)

Just to add a couple things: The base models only have 1 input (dual dvi-d). The cost factor: $350 shipped for Catleap vs ~ $800 for U2711. Catleap uses LED backlight vs CCFL for Dell U 2711.

I haven't undervolted the CPU. I was happy with stock for the longest time, and just bumped it up last week to see what it can do. IVB arrives in a week, so not tempted to do any more tests on this system. :)

Can new GPU's easily handle 2560x1440 with everything on?

At stock the idle was at 30C and load @ 50-56C, running at 3.7 Ghz has pushed the temps up quite a bit. This is on an Arctic Freezer Pro 64. Nothing fancy. The case isn't the best for OCing either with a 7970 and phenom II running mild OC.

I guess just for the power savings then. Going from a 125W to 77W processor with better gaming performance. Hopefully the Corsair 550D with H100 will provide adequate cooling for the 3570k. I am not planning on going beyond 4.3 - 4.5 OC.

I will. Phenom II x4 965 is at 3.7 GHz right now, and runs at 50C idle, 70-80C load on air. Too hot for my taste. IVB will save on power and temps I am sure with way better OC on H100. @aaksheytalwar: You are right! Initially I thought I would wait till Haswell to upgrade, but after looking at...

You should head to the Catleap owners thread on Overclock for all the details. I am satisfied with 60Hz refresh, and haven't noticed any crazy input lag in BF3. Sorry haven't tried CoD or CS:Source. There is also a thread there about ordering a bunch of Catleap panels that have guaranteed...

I play BF3 and Skyrim at 1440p with a 7970. I have it OC'ed to 1000 1575 right now before I upgrade to a nicer better ventilated case and IVB next week. The fps range for BF3 is between 45-60, and occasionally dips below 40 in big firefights. This is with 16x AF, and 8xAA @ 1440p. Skyrim stays...

Apparently, I am "THAT guy" (food smell in cafeteria)

I make sure to never warm up fish in the microwave. If it's fish curry, take out the fish in a separate container, and just warm (not nuke) the curry/rice before mixing everything. I am sure some people love the smell of Indian food (I do), however pungent it is. But no one likes the smell...

Thinking about buying Witcher 2

Just got to chapter 2, and it's the only game I can think about playing right now. Portal 2 and LA Noire can wait till I finish Witcher 2. It is pretty hard on normal difficulty, at least during the prologue and parts of chapter 1. But I am sure you knew that already.

Top 10 U.S. Burger Joints

I have been to #3 on the list multiple times since I live in NM. I would choose Bobcat Bite over Fuddruckers, 5 Guys and In-n-Out any day. It's a small restaurant in the middle of nowhere, but there's usually a 45 minute wait to get a table. It's very popular with tourists.

Devil May Cry 4 REVIEW!!

I would give it a B as well. The whole Dante backtracking for 7-8 missions , and fighting the same bosses multiple times wasn't all too enjoyable. Otherwise I would have rated it a solid A .
