    Getting back into folding...

Good grief, that's a huge difference. With both GPUs and CPU running, I'm consistently in the 55,000PPD range. From what I'm seeing, the R9 280 is basically 2012-era silicon since that drive the 79x0, 8950, and R9 280, so I guess it's just that old. I've also been experimenting with Crossfire...

    Getting back into folding...

Been a few years but with this cool weather, I thought I'd fire up F@H again and do something useful while keeping the room warm. :) My system is relatively old (Phenom II X6 1090T 3.2GHz @ 3.8GHz) and from what I'm reading, CPU folding isn't really worth much at all compared with GPUs. Is it...

Encryption software, now that TrueCrypt has ceased operations?

Not exactly. The crypto is sound, but the windows driver in Truecrypt is broken. It'd be best to switch to Veracrypt 1.15 or newer.

OK!.........All you OLD DC FARTS! Time to come out of hidding.

Lots of familiar names and avatars in this thread.... Sadly, much of my Folding force has diminished since I manage fewer computers and most of my friends have switched to laptops from desktops. I should see if I can get a few more clients fired up. I'm kinda shocked my stats haven't been...

quick control of your F@H service

Limited appeal, true (ok, maybe I'm the only one :))... I just prefer it because it's mouse-free. A command-line option also allows the command to be added to a batch file that can pause the service, launch a game, and then resume the service automatically. I did shorten it further so no...

quick control of your F@H service

Hi All, I've been running the F@H GPU client for a while and while it's much more stable than in the X1900 days, it doesn't run as transparently as I'd like. If the GPU service is running, games tend to be choppy and some video files will hang my computer. The solution to this for me was to...

Is there an interest for a Christmas Race in Folding@Home?

Just started two SMP clients this evening. One on my core duo LV laptop and one on a Dual Xeon 2.8GHz. Fingers crossed, I'll be wringing lost of points out of the multicore boxen. I also went through my pile o' hardware and found a couple of P4 CPUs. Anyone have a need for a P4 2.4GHz or...

F@H SMP on Dual Xeon HT?

Looks like these ones are Cranford (800FSB/1MBL2) Xeons with PC2100 ECC/reg RAM. Does memspeed have much impact on F@H? Will fire up the SMP client tonight once I can reboot the server.

F@H SMP on Dual Xeon HT?

I have a dual-Xeon 2.8GHz box with 4GB RAM running two standard F@H clients- would it be worth switching it over to the SMP client or should I hold off for a quadcore box?

My folders are all over the place, most are running full-time and pulled in about 25,000 points last week. Maybe 4000 ppd possible during the race? I have ~25 (P4/AXP/A64 .5-1.5GB RAM) PCs = ~2500-3000 ppd 1 dual Xeon 2.8GHz/4GB with 2 std. clients = ~250 ppd 1 Opteron 2.4GHz/2GB w/...

    Integrated graphics + graphics card

Thanks for the feedback. Would you happen to recall which chipset or motherboard you used? I think I was mistaken about Intel, the G965 supports a DVI-output card from the PCIe slot, but not a second video card.

    Integrated graphics + graphics card

Which integrated graphics chipsets support simultaneous operation of the onboard graphics and a PCIe card? I think I read at some point that the nForce 6100 and Intel G965 can both do this, but I'm having trouble finding info. Are there any others? Thanks in advance!

    F@H folks, I require assistance!

The current GPU client takes a lot of CPU time, but the F@H scoring reflects this. For now, GPU systems earn about 660 points per day while the GPU client is in beta instead of 440.

    F@H folks, I require assistance!

Wow, so the default voltages on your card were incorrect out of the box? Is that something that can be fixed with a bios reflash?

Networking ? Routers, PCs and Game systems?

Another option is to use powerline networking. My computers and router are in a separate room from my game system, so I use a Gigafast homeplug adapter to bridge the gap. Saves having to run extra ethernet cables and setup/security are easier to deal with than wireless.

    X1950 AGP is Folding

Right... :o When it comes to hardwre I think in centigrade, but when it comes to cooking and weather, I'm stuck in farenheit. Let's see, indoors it's about 18-20°C lately and summers get to 33-38° without air conditioning. (does that sound right?)

    X1950 AGP is Folding

Interesting, what's the difference? I saw a reference to Cygwin in the GPU client, does F@H emulate linux on windows?

    GPU clock speed display?

Looks like it shows momentary clockspeed in the hardware information center, but I don't even show an overdrive panel. Maybe it's incompatible with Windows 2000 or the AGP X1950?

    GPU clock speed display?

Nah, RivaTuner has worked fine with ATI cards for years, at least for overclocking and low-level tweaks. I used it to softmod a couple of Radeon 9500s to 9700s . Looks like Traytools has better hooks into the driver settings though, I'll have to check it out. Thanks for the info.

F@H console client minimized to tray?

Thanks for the input. I like running the CPU client as a service, but the GPU client is just too unstable so far. It will quit out if any 3D app is run and with a handful of 2D and video overlay applications as well. I'm giving FAH3Tray a shot and so far so good.

    X1950 AGP is Folding

re GPU speed: Another member here pointed me towards Rivatuner which has a reatime monitor for GPU and VRAM clockspeed. Looks like this X1950Pro is running at full blast in 2D and 3D mode regardless of its load. All the more reason to keep it folding! My only concern now is heat. My CPU...

    X1950 AGP is Folding

Yes, by a long shot. GPU WUs are given 4x the credit per day (6x temporarily for so much CPU use), but from what I've read they WUs are more complicated as well. Whatever F@H does seems to really like ATI shaders...

    GPU clock speed display?

Anyone know of a way to display GPU (ATI in this case) clockspeed in real time? I'm running the new Folding @ Home GPU client, but I want to verify that the video card is running at full (3D) speed rather than reduced 2D/desktop speed. Thanks in advance...

    X1950 Pro AGP is coming!

My 2¢: Just bought a Visiontek X1950Pro AGP at best buy (B&M) last week. The card is nice and fast, a noticable improvement over my previous EVGA 7800GS (430MHz) particularly in Oblivion and Titan Quest. My only gripe is noise, Visiontek's box brags about it's quiet <27dB cooler, but it's the...

F@H console client minimized to tray?

Anyone know of a way that I could minimize the F@H console client to the system tray instead of the task bar? The GPU beta client seems a bit too fragile to run as as a background service, but I also don't want to keep restoring it when I'm ALT-tabbing through open apps. Nit-picky, I know...

What kind of video card are you running the client on? X1900, X1950, X1800 (XT/XTX/Pro/GTO)? Brand? I can check some other DC forums to see if anyone is having similar troubles with the same card.
