It defaults to enabled and I have run it enabled and disabled ( with no difference ) but the MB only see's two 4 gig sticks. Funny thing is windows see's all 16 gb but only 8gb is acessible. It's so weird but is not having any effect on the overclocking.

I had the same set up you do and I used a XP120 from thermalright. I am not sure if they make them anymore but you should be able to get something similar. Any of these should do.
