I agree about the spares.
I have the Cactus V2s. They work great with my non canon flashes.
I can't find a brand on my optical triggers. They came from mpex. I never got them to fire. If I had to get those again I'd go with the wein ones...
I can't find it. I did find the pack of about a trillion batteries I couldn't believe I lost so the search wasn't a total waste.
There are a lot of cheap ones available over at adorama (and other places, they just came up first in the search) that are probably worth trying. $70 to see if...
My ebay triggers are triggered by my 430ex flash. This is not good. The cheap optical triggers I've purchased have never worked. The wireless triggers work fine with my vivitar flash.
mpex has some strobist kits. You might want to try them.
I hate the rebel's power switch. Much prefer the 40D style. Course I've been using that style of switch since my Canon EOS A2 I picked up like 15 years or so ago.
I forgot one thing about the 40D that I really like - live view. If you use a tripod it is like working with a view camera. Just...
I have one. Its voltage is too high for any of my digital cameras. It WAS cheap as it was a sunpak. It worked great for macros.
I'm happier with off camera flashes.
What about the slik 700dx?
I think the head referenced in this article is around $70 without the quick release...

The required tripod purchasing article (Keep it in mind if you find yourself upgrading your tripod in small steps.) ...
How am I pushing it? They ask for a product and I post the one I like. The OP can download it and see if they like it. They don't have to buy it first. And half the time I warn that it isn't free just in case that is an instant no.
As an aside I did see the OP mention that they might buy...
After all of that I bought a Blue Microphones snowball. The samples seemed good. Reviews seemed good. Price was great. I kept getting nickle and dimed by cables and everything else. This seems like a nice mic to get started with. If I use it a lot I'll buy something better.
Thanks for the...
Except I'd have to buy a preamp and cables. Still, I'm thinking of doing something like that. Just to give me a few more options...
Thanks for the suggestions!
I'm not looking to spend very much. I would like a decent USB microphone for voice and instrument (guitar) recording. I'd like to keep it at $100 or less. So a sm57 with adapters is out.
Any suggestions?
The CAD U3, U37, Samson G Track and MXL 990 USB all seem to fit the bill but are they...

People tend to give out their passwords. "Oh, yeah, that file is on my desktop. My password is ILoveGermany."
Of course I had a coworker who protested the new password every week policy by putting his on a post it note on his monitor. (I would just repeatedly change mine until I overwhelmed...
The 30D was 8mp. Same sensor as the 20D.
Self cleaning has worked pretty well for me. I still haven't cleaned either my 400D or 40D. Heck, I haven't cleaned my G1 and it exposes the sensor every time I change lenses. So why is it a gimmick?
Try J. River Media Center. www.jrmediacenter.com They have recently added DLNA support. It might not be perfect but they are currently developing it. So if you have an issue post it to their forums.
It isn't free, however.
I wish you could setup multiple scans rather than just one. I'd like a quick scan every day and the full scan once a week. Haven't figured out how to do that so far. Don't know if you can.
Syncback is another good choice. If you're a fan of Comodo they also have a Backup utility.
I know nothing of Synctoy these days other than it once synced 100GB into oblivion.
