Should I sell my Radeon 9700 for an FX when available?

idnut, Someone is surely going to correct me if I'm wrong but in reading your system specs for The Beast, you're running a P4 2.4G/533 and you're using PC2100 memory. It's my understanding that the 533 FSB requires PC2700 memory while the 400FSB uses PC2100. Could this be part of the problem?

Just a thought but you might try reseating or replacing your memory. I had a problem very similar to yours and it drove me nuts trying to find out what it was. I run two sticks of PC133, 128M each and one of them was defective, as soon as I replaced it my system was rock solid again.

BX Master - BIOS for UDMA66 not installed???

Have you installed the Promise Controller Drivers in Windows yet? If you haven't then boot from the reg IDE port and install the drivers, then shut down, move the drive cable to the Primary UDMA66 port and reboot, stopping by the BIOS on the way through to reset the boot sequence.
