Does anyone know where I can either purchase or buy some materials for making longer SCSI cables? I need one thats about 3 feet in length, with at least 5 different connections on it. I'm talking about the old 50pin cable, for SCSI-2 and Ultra SCSI, not the twisted stuff. I know there is a...

AMD mobo w/ 64bit PCI?

Does anyone know if there is a motherboard made for AMD based systems, perferrably the KT266a or something similar, that has a couple 64bit PCI slots on it? I know the Tyan Tiger/Thunder and all the other AMD MP systems have them, but I'd like to find a single processor solution for something...

Athlon Heatsink Question

I just got my K7T Pro 2a yesterday and there appears to be PLENTY of room around the socket for anything you want to put on there. I think I even read in a review of that board, that they tired some of the biggest heatsinks, and they had no problems with space.

Win2K INACCESSIBLE_BOOT_DEVICE

Sounds to me that you have some data corruption on the hard drive. Not sure what to recommend here. Possibly something like Norton Disk Doctor?

SB16 in Win2k?

I can't seem to get this to work for the life of me. I know it's not exactly listed on the HCL for Windows 2000, but Windows has drivers for it when you show all compadible hardware. Creative doesn't have drivers for it either, which don't seem to help. Has anyone done this, or got it working?

Poll: what OS do you use?

3 different machines, 3 operating systems. Gaming system is Win98. For me Games still too unstable in 2k. File Server is Win2k, due to RAID support for my Fasttrak 100. Web server/Mail server/anything else is Redhat Linux 6.2. Most stable of the machines and needs no maintainence. It's...

How much faster is this . . .(hard drive question)

It'll be a LOT faster with the 2 30gb and the RAID in RAID0. The drawback? You'll have twice the chance of it failing and losing the data due to 2 drives. Throw a 3rd one in there and run RAID 0+1 and you'll be just as fast with redundant backup.

quick: Which CPU is better for games? K62/550 or K63/400?

Neither? :) In all seriousness, I'd say the 550. The K6-3 only has extra cache, which doesn't help all that much in games. Well, not more than clock speed.

Is the Herc Prophet II 64MB's 2D ok or is CLA2 better?

I have the Herc 64megger as well, and there are no problems whatsoever with the 2d. Worms Armageddon looks perfect as well. :)

Let me know if these are good 3dmark2000 scores

On my system listed in my sig, I get 5400. Try upgrading your video drivers to the latest nVidia reference drivers. That might help.

3d Mark 2000 Score

He said his desktop was at 1280x1024, but 3dmark doesn't use that as the res. Anyways, with that system, he should still be faster. I still hit well over 4k at 1280x1024. Something definately is not right. I'd check the drivers first.

MSI Master slocket?

That has to be version 2, because version 1 didn't even have that plastic backplate. THe normal mounting backets for PII/PIII's that came with my Abit BX6r2 worked just fine with that.

HELP!! Celeron Question

Then I guess that has changed from when I looked at it last. The physical pin layout is identical, but certian pins need different voltages from the PPGA processors, from what I heard. Maybe Abit was able to fix that with a bios change, but I'm not sure.

If you really don't want to do software raid, fasttrak 66 cards are only like $65 now a days. Go get one.

what mobo are you guys overclocking your celeron 566 with???

Runnin mine on an Abit BX6r2 with an MSI slocket. Works like a champ at 875, but probably could do 952 if I wanted to put the voltage at 1.8.

P3 700e cB0 overclocking relults...... need your input.....

Everytime windows complained about the registry and had to restore it to a good version, it was a memory problem. This last time, it was because I didnt have my memory seated correctly, or very well for that matter. I'd look there.

Help with Celeron 566

I'm not completely sure it's the processor. When you start seeing that tearing effect in games, or whatnot, that can't be caused by the processor. That HAS to be something caused by the video. My guess is that your voodoo3 is overheating. I saw the same type of thing when a friend of mine...

Is this bad?

Yes, I would say it is not a good thing. Power supplies do generate heat, and since there is a direct connection, will transfer that heat to your heatsink. It also defeats the purpose of airflow through the heatsink to dissapate the heat from it.
