Yes. 3.25GB of ram under XP x64 as well. I think I'll go for that new BIOS. Fan control leaves a lot to be desired as it takes forever to ramp up, and then ramps down again under heavy load despite still being well above setpoint temperature.

My CPU is making high pitch noise

I hear high pitched "squeaking" noises coming from my motherboard when Speedstep is enabled. Probably resonances within circuitry.

Does anyone know if flashing a version 1 board with version 2 bios image will allow an E5200 to work properly on the board? As far as I can see, the V2 board supports the 5300 officially, but I don't see any indication the V1 board can handle a 5200, at least it seems mine can't.

I bought an e5200 and I am having the same problems. I can get it to run sometimes, but it will refuse to reboot at random intervals. Changing BIOS options is almost impossible, as it doesn't reliably save your changes, or it refuses to boot afterwards. Can't figure out the problem. IF I pull...

Ok, it DOES work, albeit after maxing out at 63C for a minute and a half, fully loaded on Orthos. I wouldn't want to count on this in an emergency!

Does anyone have issue with the CPU fan not speeding up when the processor loads up? I set the desired temperature in the bios to 45. The fan slows as the computer boots, but when running any heavy load, the cpu temperature climbs up past the setpoint and the fan doesn't speed up. BIOS is 1.90a

I don't have any DOS capability, and I don't have a floppy drive on my computer. @ Conflikt, I see the Coolermaster Hyper TX/TX2 getting excellent reviews, and it's quite an inexpensive cooler.

The system just seems to be a lot snappier overall than it was with Win2000 Pro. Maybe a few updates and service packs will fix that! I noticed a fresh install of Win 2000 on my old computer also flew before the patches and updates were installed.

I was just reading up on the VIA PT880 Ultra chipset. Specs from VIA says max memory is 4GB. Does anyone know why we are limited to 2GB on this board? Granted 2GB sticks are still pretty pricey, but that will change in time. I just installed XP 64bit, and I'm liking it!

Hmm, just installed the latest version. Idle temperatures are now reported as 55/55 instead of 30/30. Speedfan and MBM5 also read 30/30, so I wonder what's up. Tjunction changed from 85C to 100C in CoreTemp. I have a hard time believing my cpu is running that hot, since I feel absolutely no heat...

I was good to about 2860 MHz without the BSEL mod. I only gained about another 100MHz or so after the mod, so it's debatable how much it helped. As far as I can tell it just got me to 2.9 GHZ+ at boot. Looks like that is about the max I will get without volt mods, as Orthos is crapping out about...

Eating crow here.... Just went through the trouble of mounting the Gigabyte cooler (had to remove the MB). Full load Orthos temperatures dropped from >70C to 52C, still not chilly, but the paste is still bedding in. I'm going for >3GHz. BTW, I jammed the VMM into a spare HDD...
