I just wanted to share my OC results for both 8800 gt and 9600 gt systems that I have. I built the 9600gt system for my Friend, and wanted to compare my 8800gt system with the new 9600gt System. Both machines are of Similar configuration except for the GPU. Here are the results:
System...
When I built my system 3months ago with ASUS P5K deluxe and Q6600, I had issues because the BIOS version was 202 and didn't support my CPU. Then I upgraded to 0603 and everything works fine to the date. I didn't go with 0705 that was available at that time due to the issues members reported at...
I just bought AccelroS1 Rev.2 from svc.com for my 8800gt. I was installing it and realized that there is only enough heatsinks for Ram, and needed three more for Voltage regulators. I guess arctic cooling thinks it is not necessary on 8800gt. They provided VR heatsinks for 1950,1900,1800. So...
I have plenty of room, So guess I'll go with Accelero S1.. I was waiting for it to be in stock at Newegg..
But did a google product search....Probably buy it from directron...
I was planning to get an after market cooler for my 8800gt. I was waiting on stock for ARCTIC COOLING Accelero S1 Rev 2 on Newegg with ARCTIC COOLING Turbo Module Sleeve Dual VGA Fan. However, today I went to Fry's electronics and saw the Thermaltake DuOrb VGA Cooler , and almost bought it...

Prime95 v25.5 Runs Stable, but Super Pi v1.5 32M Test Fails in Vista !!!
Solution in the thread below !!!
http://forums.anandtech.com/me...=2140538&enterthread=y
Good to know that I could help. I was also lost, but when I figured it isn't an OC problem, I knew it was Mr. Vista !!!
Yeah 3.0 is good initial milestone. My plan is to get up to 3.6 eventually, but I'm going to run at 3.0 for a while.
BTW the guy who made that claim came back and admitted he was wrong after I posted the link to GraySky's overclocking guide. So I guess he didn't know what he was doing and was going around giving false advice to others !!!
Thanks. It is good to put all the information together in one place.
Even though I didn't get any response for my problem from this forum (late night), I got some response in other forums that were outrageous. Some one suggested that I disable the round off check in Prime95 so that my...
Finally found the solution !!!
I ran Super Pi 32M under stock settings, however it failed. This lead me to think that it was rather a OS/Program issue than a stable overclock issue. So I started searching for Vista Super Pi issues.
The windows vista services that affect Super Pi are...
Also to note:
Round off was selected on Prime95...& I ran the small ffts test
But priority was set to 1.. From another forum i got the suggestion to set the priority to "10"
Should I run again with Worker thread priority 10 ???
ADDED LATER.........................................................
Problem:
Overclock stable in Prime95 v25.5 for 12+ hours, but fails Super Pi v1.5 32M Test (even at stock settings) in Windows Vista !!!
Solution:
The windows vista services that affect Super Pi are,
1) Windows...
I have finals at school whole week... But I had to fix this problem to study peacefully.
At least I saw the BIOS...
I will update it after the exams, and hope fully the ucode (microcode) error goes away..
Hopefully it is not a flakey CPU like you said.
I was having problems before that I thought was the CPU, but it was bent socket pin
http://forums.anandtech.com/me...=2131263&enterthread=y
CPU uCode error !!!
I get this error when I boot uo my newly built system during the initial check up (No OS installed)
BIOS detected all hardware. CPU specs were correct. I just wanted to know what
this error was. Any cause of concern ??? or will it go away on BIOS update
System...
Thanks a lot guys...
I finally figured out the problem, it was a freakin bend pin in the 775 socket...
I played around with it and finally the system booted..
Bios detected all componets, and showed right values for CPU.. However I do get CPU u code error on start up check (no OS...

I just tested the CPU (Core 2 Quad) on a different (ECS 775 Socket) Motherboard. Computer starts up, but no display. Power stays on with this motherboard, so i guess different motherboards react differently to CPU problem. But I did have the RAM in both slots. I will the RAM test...

My new system won't boot up . It turns on for a second or so, then shuts down. I tried different startup configs of hardware, finally the system powered on and stayed on after I removed the CPU ( Core 2 Quad). Everything else seems to be working.
