Thanks everyone for the suggestions. Unfortunately the antec isk 110 is out of my budget. The G4400 isn't available locally yet, but thanks for the pointers, will definitely consider it. As for the PSU, I'll likely get the ST30SF 300W Bronze which is about 10 bucks cheaper than the CX450W...

I believe you're right. I'd jump on a 2133 RAM if I see it at the local store, but for now I think only 2400s are available so I'm still expecting them to run at 2133. Do you think it's worth getting a Z170 just for the RAM overclock?

Problem with DS3L

ok a little update: so, seeing that the fan started running 5min into the boot up, i restarted the rig with the ACF7Pro fan plugged into the CPU_FAN outlet. Now it runs fine. CPU Smart FAN Mode is set to AUTO, and the fan runs at 477RPM. Temps eventually level off at 46degC System / 34degC...

thanks for the reply. yeah, i read about qflash and @bios that comes with the DS3L, but are these utilities 'safe' to use? I read somewhere that we shouldn't use these utilities, and instead do it manually from a boot disc. or am i mistaken, and qflash actually is the best way to do this?
